THE DIARY GAME. (21/09/2021)- MY FIRST DAY IN COBES

Good day fellow steemians.
I am very happy and excited to get connected with you all today.
Community health service has always been something I really want to do. An opportunity has presented itself where in the next four weeks I am going to be working at the Ward K Health Center in Tamale,Ghana.
The Third Trimester in UDS-MS is used for what we call COBES (Community Based Education and Service).
My team has been posted to the Ward K Health Center and as part of our community entry protocols, the following happened:

On arrival at the health facility we met with the health practitioner in charge of the facility- Madam Helena and some of the workers in the facilty- Mr. Naiza, Mr. Martin and Madam Serena. We announced our arrival and Mr. Naiza- one of the workers; showed us some of the departments (CWC, ANC, PNC, OPD, DELIVERY) within the health center.
We discussed most of the things that happens in every department. For example: at the Post Natal Clinic we talked about the facts that mothers need to be educated on matters such as how to breast feed the newborn. when to start complementary feeding and a whole lot.

After we were oriented into the clinic, we met the Assemly Man of Ward K- Honourable Abubakar Salim who led us to the Chief's Palace for us to announce our arrival to the chief in the person of Tishi Naa .
At the Chief's Palace, as a sign of acceptance, we were presented with Cola Nut as the tradition demands.

We were gladly welcomed into the community and then we went back to the clinic to plan on how things are going to be ran. After all the planning we hanged out for a while after which we closed for the day.

That was how my first day at Ward K Health Center went.
