CITYSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #154 | Lisbon at twilight | ENG / ESP
Hello everyone
I am submitting this image to the city photography contest, taken at sunset of the Santa Justa elevator, which links the districts of Baixa and Chiado, in the heart of the Portuguese capital. It was designed by the engineer Raoul Mesnier and built in the neo-Gothic style, inspired by similar structures such as the Eiffel Tower. It was first opened in 1902.
Nowadays it has become one of the most important tourist attractions in Lisbon and the queues of tourists to get on the lift are very long, which has pushed the inhabitants of these neighbourhoods to other more uncomfortable means of transport, which they used to use for their daily chores.

Presento al concurso de fotografía urbana esta imagen tomada al ocaso del elevador de Santa Justa, que conecta los barrios de Baixa y Chiado, en el mero centro de la capital portuguesa. Es obra del ingeniero Raoul Mesnier y realizado en estilo neogótico, e inspirado en estructuras similares tales como la torre Eiffel. Se inauguró en el 1902.
Actualmente se ha convertido en una de las atracciones turísticas más importantes de Lisboa y las colas de turistas para subir al ascensor son enormes, cosa que ha desplazado a los habitantes de esos barrios a otros medios de transporte más incómodos y que antes lo usaban para sus quehaceres cotidianos.

That is really impressive elevator, still looks very modern and might be really cool to be on the top of it. The photo is very well done, I like how you focus on the tower and blurred in front.
You are right @stef1, being at the top is amazing, there you have a breathtaking view over the whole city. In contrast, the lift ride is insignificant, lasting 16 seconds, and has no attraction whatsoever.
