Positive Focused Intention: How to Succeed at Pretty Much Anything!
Whatever might be important to us, most people would like to succeed at what they undertake.
It could be their marriage, a career, a challenge, a new sport, a hobby, writing a book... even having a successful blog on Steemit.
Of course, it seems to come with the territory that we also want the "secret" to succeeding. Somehow, we are taught that there is some kind of "formula" or "secret ingredient" that will lead to success. This is often the result of jumping to conclusions, because we see other people who have done well, and we assume that they did something amazing and magical to get where they are.
In reality, chances are they didn't.
The problem we often encounter — and it's something I frequently hear clients talk about (both directly and indirectly) during counseling sessions — is that we move right past the idea of success simply being the consequence of a lot of hard work and dedication, and instead start looking for shortcuts.
In the New Age and self-development field, we often use terms like "manifesting" and "the Universe will provide," but unfortunately many people have the mistaken impression that new cars or the perfect life partner is going to magically be delivered with no further action than just "thinking about it."
Whereas there actually are no magical shortcuts, we do have tools that can help keep us on track so we can get to our objectives more quickly.
The White Light Express organization is centered around The Power of Positive Focused Intention.
A lot of people hear that phrase and think there's some kind of "magical thinking" involved, but there really isn't.
First, you have to determine exactly what it is you want. One of the things we often trip ourselves up with is excessive generalization. We might declare "I want a new car!" — which is nice — but that could mean so many things!
If someone dropped off their beat up 1972 Ford in your driveway, it would be "a new car;" because it's new to you. But that wasn't what you meant, was it? We should always be very specific when we set intentions!
The rest of "Focused Intention" is actually simple psychology: We tend to move towards those things we pay attention to... which is also why people who pay a lot of attention to their ailments and illnesses never seem to be able to get better! After all, all they are doing is worrying about their illness, not about getting well.
"Paying attention" is a very powerful tool. When we keep something at the forefront of our minds all the time, we tend to take action in support of whatever is in our mind. Simple case in point: If our intention is to find a better job and we have it firmly in mind, it suddenly seems like there are more job placement ads than usual. Actually, there aren't, but we're paying more attention!
And no, I'm sorry I don't have a "magic pill" that will suddenly manifest one million Steem in your account tomorrow... that's not how intention typically works, although it sometimes can. Usually, though, you'll need to buy a lottery ticket!
Thanks for reading, and Bright Blessings to all!
