Photo contest: post processing #8 - High key

Deutsch im Anschluß...

New round, new luck: @bambuka called for part 8 of his competition series.

I saw the announcement, read it a second time to be on the safe side - and thought: Oh-my-God-oh-my-God-oh-my-God!!

I know the technique that was explicitly mentioned: even if I didn't know that it has a special name ;-)) High Key. At a previous shoot, a professional took a few photos of me this way and I found the results... well, unflattering, to be quite honest.

But - it's all about having our own ideas about it. As usual, I looked hopefully at the very quickly received first entry and thought again: Oh-my-God-oh-my-God-oh-my-God! I urgently have to study the task a third time, because obviously I have misunderstood it...

Afterwards it was again only enough for: Oh-my-God-oh-my-God-oh-my-God!... So many wrong-way drivers! So participants are on the wrong lane. Well...

The dialogue under the original post became unusually rough when it drifted off topic - and at that point I wanted to slip away. At the same time, it occurred to me that I could hardly score points, if at all, with technical brilliance in this round, but at most with something surprising. And this challenge offers me its own charm ;-))

So, as so often, the little rogue in me, who just wants to know, won out....

In the end, @esthersanchez's wonderfully well-executed contribution brought me back down to earth: that's right, I'll just try my luck - with something comparatively banal!

My original photo, which, even unedited, is just short of the target:

The background was made brighter and lighter using GIMP, and I also worked on the colours, which looked rather dark in the greyish weather at the time of the snapshot.

And last but not least, thanks to pixlr.com, I reduced the colour intensity to a few shades of grey, blurred the contrasts and put a kind of misty haze over the whole thing.

My offer for this week: marble on a stick ;-))

Neue Runde, neues Glück: @bambuka rief auf zu Teil 8 seiner Wettbewerbsreihe.

Ich sah die Ausschreibung, las sie sicherheitshalber ein zweites Mal – und dachte: ohgottohgottohgott!!

Die Technik, von der explizit die Rede war, kenne ich: auch wenn ich nicht wußte, daß sie einen speziellen Namen hat ;-)) High Key. Bei einem früheren Shooting schoss ein Profi ein paar Fotos von mir auf diese Art und ich fand die Ergebnisse… nun ja, wenig schmeichelhaft, um ganz ehrlich zu sein.

Aber – es ging ja um eigene Ideen dazu. Wie immer schaute ich hoffnungsvoll auf den sehr schnell eingegangenen ersten Beitrag und dachte wiederum: ohgottohgottohgott! Ich muß dringend die Aufgabe ein drittes Mal studieren, denn offensichtlich habe ich sie falsch verstanden…

Anschließend reichte es erneut nur für: ohgottohgottohgott… So viele Geisterfahrer! Also Teilnehmer auf der falschen Spur unterwegs. Tja…

Die Dialoge unter dem Originalpost wurden noch dazu zwischendurch ungewöhnlich ruppig, als sie thematisch etwas abdrifteten – und an der Stelle wollte ich mich eigentlich klammheimlich davonstehlen. Gleichzeitig kam mir in den Sinn, daß ich, wenn überhaupt, auch in dieser Runde kaum durch technische Brillanz punkten könnte, sondern höchstens durch etwas Überraschendes. Und diese Herausforderung bietet mir ihren eigenen Reiz ;-))

Wie so oft siegte also der kleine Schelm in mir, der es einfach wissen will…

Ganz auf den Boden der Tatsachen zurück holte mich letztendlich der wunderbar gelungene Beitrag von @esthersanchez: genau, ich versuche einfach mein Glück – mit etwas vergleichsweise total Banalem!

Mein Originalfoto, das schon unbearbeitet knapp an der Zielvorgabe kratzt:

Der Hintergrund wurde mittels GIMP noch heller und lichter gezaubert, außerdem arbeitete ich die Farben etwas heraus, die bei dem graudüsteren Wetter zu Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme ziemlich dunkelbunt wirkten.

Und zuguterletzt habe ich, pixlr.com sein Dank, die Farbintensität auf ein paar Grautöne reduziert, die Kontraste verschwimmen lassen und eine Art nebligen Dunst über das Ganze gelegt.
