4 colour screen print
Well another day another T-shirt.
Oh the joyes of running your own business and dealing with the general public.
Today in the dojo was a fun and challenging 4 colour print to do for a local band.
The customer previously had this design printed by another screen printer on some tshirts and was after an exact replica onto hoodies.
Now this is a pretty cool 4 colour fire font with lots of little detail.
But the problem was he did not provide any Pantone colours that I could use to mix these 4 colours.
Which made this job challenging as I had mix it by eye.
And with the test print done the customer came back to check it out. And was splitting hairs on the slight colour difference between the yellow and the red.
Now this was only a small job of 17 items printed but a lot of back and forth with the customer to get this just right for him.
Once I got the test prints just right here is the process.
Step 1.
After lining up all the screens so the registration of the design sits perfect. It's time to load the hoodie onto the plattern
Step 2.
Print the base colour yellow. I did print flash (so it's touch dry) then print, so the base yellow was nice and opaque.
Step 3.
Print the Orange.
Just one pass with this then flash.
Step 4.
Print the red.
Again just one pass with this then flash.
Step 5.
Print the last layer of highlight yellow to make the final design pop.
Again just one pass then flash.
Step 6.
Send through the oven to cure the ink.
Then to print the front pocket logo which was another 4 colour print in the same font just not stretched vertically as much.
In the end this design came out pretty cool and the customer was happy!
I'm just saving the world one t-shirt at a time 😂
