The Screen Addict Recommends โ The Midnight Meat Train (2008)
Itโs a shame ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ป๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป universe was never explored further.
The concept of a deranged killer butchering lone travelers on a mysterious, late-night subway train just has so much potential, if you ask me.
With a couple of ๐ง๐ ๐ ๐ง sequels, Lionsgate could have had another enduring franchise like ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ (๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฐ) on their hands and with Vinnie Jonesโ Butcher, another iconic villain like Jigsaw.
Not to mention multiple movies with Bradley Cooper before he became Oscar-fรคhigโฆ
I know, I knowโฆ Jonesโ character quite definitively meets his demise in ๐ง๐ ๐ ๐ง, but who ever REALLY dies in Horror franchises?
Granted โ the notion of a โMidnight Meat Trainโ sounds a bit clunky, but director Ryรปhei Kitamura sure made the most of Clive Barkerโs totally bonkers short story.
Mind you โ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ isnโt exactly a masterclass in subtlety, eitherโฆ
Keep your eyes peeled for a split-second cameo by Quinton โRampageโ Jackson, who would reunite with Cooper two years later for ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐-๐ง๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ (๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ).
Seek it out & get your fix.
