The Screen Addict Recommends – Quigley Down Under (1990)

This unique Ozzie-Western starring Tom Selleck as the titular Yank down under, deserves much more love.

Australia native Simon Wincer – who also directed the awesome Butch & Sundance homage 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗻 (𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟭) – delivers a hugely entertaining Action-Adventure that plays like a solid mix of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗴𝗹𝘆 (𝟭𝟵𝟲𝟲) and 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 (𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟬).

Feast your eyes and ears on a rousing Basil Poledouris score, Alan Rickman doing another delicious villain, and spectacular vistas that match any Spaghetti Western shot in Spain.

Not to mention the wonderful Laura San Giacomo…

Also, keep your eyes peeled for early-career Ben Mendelsohn as one of Rickman’s Henchmen!
