Pencil drawing, New Competition (No.68) | Graphite Portrait Of Obong Earthquake Anwana
Happy new year steemians and my fellow members of @worldofxpilar. still on January cruise. I hope everyone is doing great!? And I hope you had a productive and fruitful week!? How is your weekend going. It's Friday down here. From what I'm seeing, this year will be greater than last year. I'm here again with another realistic graphite portrait. I want to present to you a realistic portrait drawing of an iconic individual. He's so famous that even while I was drawing him my neighbor's daughter whose studied education claims to know him.
About Nsikak Anwana AKA Earthquake AKA The Leader:
From the little knowledge I have of him. Nsikak Anwana was my senior colleague back then in school, Akwa Ibom State College of Education. I must confess I didn't know how generous he was He was a genial fellow for some reason. He has that leadership qualities. He held one of the leadership position in the student union government back then in school. Because I loved his personality I decided to follow him on social media. He is now a graduate of the university of Uyo. He furthered his academic in uniuyo after he was done with his college program. Obong Anwana is a living legend. He's an academia. He love teaching so much that I saw one of his post on Facebook after graduating with a bachelors degree in education. He talked about furthering for Masters degree too. I never knew he could be so kind to me. Last year I made a post on Facebook asking for help to secure myself an electric eraser and white charcoal pencils.
I was so surprised when he took it upon himself to gift me the electric eraser. I will forever remain grateful for such a kind gesture. I Didn't know how to appreciate him, not until I sat down and thought of what to do to reciprocate this love. I finally decided I will gift him a free portrait. I asked him for super quality pictures and he responded.
I told him he will only assist me with the purchase of glass and frame.
I'm so happy to finish this work this year. He was expecting it since last year. The delay was because there was no good paper in Uyo as at last year. So when papers arrived I rushed to get my best or favourite, which is Alabaster paper. I wish I could do more. Here I am saying Thank you for being a brother from another mother. smell your flowers 🌺 when you're still alive. I've chosen to immortalize this kindness of yours in my blogspot, here in steemit.
Here is a link to his Facebook account: https://www.facebook.com/Anwanajnr
In case you want to know more about him.
Thank you Mr. Anwana Nsikak
Thank Earthquake
Thank you the leader.
Stay blessed.

Here are the steps on how I did the portrait.
I drew my grid lines and made my sketch then started shading it gradually. Starting with his eyes, eyebrows, and other features of the face. I love drawing the eyes first and the face. I then move to other parts like the hairs on the head hair on the face (beard). Now to achieve that realistic skin texture I had to use my mechanical pencil for little detailing, since the portrait is small and use my tombo mono zero eraser to erase lights, highlights and fine lines, making it real and accurate. everything went well. This is one of my portrait that is done with 100% graphite pencils only. As usual I love detailing my drawing well. I love it when my clients or admirers say "WOW" when the see the finishing of my portrait, so I went back and painstakingly brought details from the cloth and the chain (necklace), making it look so real.
