Hi @singa, you are right the layers must be dry first, I also sometimes have no patience to wait, on some occasion I use hair dryer to dry the painting. Especially when I do not have much time. Sky usually is the easiest part. My mistakes often that I use the layer and then do not like, wash it out and try another and that is what paper does not like. We all still learning, sometimes there are little successes :)
