Black and white photography !!

Hello, my friends, today I had a very busy day, and I was hindered by my goal which is to make a post every morning. It is very important for me to post at least once a day until I adopt this habit. As I know it takes 3 weeks to repeat a process daily until it becomes a routine, then the subconscious mind does the rest.

Today I am on the 4rth day and I didn΄t know what to post about. Finally, once again I checked the contests of the xpilar community for some inspiration and I decided today to participate in the B&W Photography and art contest, hosted by axeman. I did not miss the opportunity and opened the folder with my photos to look for a photo to participate in the competition.

The truth is that I have no experience with black and white photos and today is the first time I edited some of my pictures and made them B&W. The first three photos I made, were from my Sunday visit to the highest point of a hill near my house. There are a lot of huge antennas and some satellite dishes and I thought the pictures I have captured this day, would look great in black and white. The first picture shows 2 antennas, although I liked it, it wasn't the one I wanted.

The second picture shows the back side of a satellite dish which is among the bare bushes. I like this picture also, but I wanted to have more choices, so I kept digging.

I liked the third photo the most. It depicts the same satellite dish again but this time the photo is taken from the side and in the background from behind you can see vast plains.

Then I remembered the photos I had taken a month ago, of the days when it snowed in Athens, I thought that maybe they also look nice black and white. The photo I chose is the one below where the snowy railings give a symmetry and add depth to the image leading our eye to the young man walking forward.

I kept looking for more photos to turn them to b&w, and then I thought about my last visit to the Olympic stadium of Athens. The designs of the buildings there are very elaborate, and I have many nice photographs from this place. I chose the photo below which shows us a couple climbing the stairs and in the frond of them, there is a huge ornately made canopy. Furthermore, the symmetry of the canopy and the shadows created by it, make the photo more psychedelic. So I liked this photo a lot but my feelings about it are mixed.

More digging and I found one more picture that I liked as b&w. It was some palm trees. I like this one too because the trees create nice patterns and the clouds in the background with the sun shine are really nice. But neither this image made the click in my mind.

The last photo that will be the one that I will participate in the b&w contest is a photo that I captured one year ago. When the first lockdown came.I decided to leave from the big city at my home town, and stayed in a small apartment by the sea. The first month I was watching Netflix all day. Literally my life was Netflix, phone calls and sleep. Until one cloudy morning I went for a walk at the seaside street. The rough sea and the wild landscape made me to start capturing pictures passionately with my mobile phone. After a long time, I felt again feelings of excitement while I was capturing photos. My passion for photography and creativity came back after almost a year away from photography. I captured many beautiful photos this day, and today I will share one of my favourites of them as b&w version and I will participate at the contest with that.
