Steemit Engagement Challenge WOX Community S6W1: Flowers
Hi steemians,
Welcome to my sixth entry in this week's engagement challenge. It's the first week of the engagement challenge for season 6 and we are presented with a wonderful contest titled Flowers. Here, steemians are advised to pick a flower of their choice and show a step-by-step process on how they draw it.

In this publication, I have selected a flower given to me as a birthday gift on one of my birthdays and I have decided to showcase my artwork on it. I'm not too good when it comes to artwork but I feel I should give this contest a trial.
Requirements for the drawing
The drawing does require a lot but I will like to keep it simple since I'm not too good at the presentation. For that reason, I will be using just the basics for this contest. The tools include
- Pencil
- Eraser
- A4 paper
- Sharpener
To begin, I ensured that I had everything ready as you can see in the picture above. I cleaned the pencil to have it sharp. And then I kept the flower by the side and started the drawing. In the first part, I drew from the right part to the bottom just one side as you can see in the image below.
After that, I decided to draw the other part of it but this time I took it further as I added the little flowers that were also attached to give the entire flower its beauty. See the image below.
After that, I decided to add lines on each of the flowers to bring out the complete beauty of the work I have done so far. The lines were quite a bit difficult to draw because it was not curving and bringing out the shape as expected. But in the end, I got something close to the real picture as you can see in the image below.
After my drawing, I decided to take a little selfie with the image as you can see in the picture below. It's been a while since I drew but I believe with time and a little bit of practice I will improve to get the real thing. I don't have clarion at the moment to bring out the real colour of the flower but I'm making provision for that in the next contest.
Drawing sometimes needs patience and constant practice. I have been drawing for a while but along the line, I stopped due to many activities. Today I have decided to rekindle that passion for drawing once again and I believe with the time that expertise in me will showcase. I want to invite a few friends to also join the contest. Please why is the rule different from that of the steemit team. We are not allowed to enter more than one contest in a day and from the steemitblog announcement, the list of contest was release on monday and they said all contest will run till sunday 27/11/2022 and end at 11:59pm UTC. Why is you guys rule different. Does it mean we should enter more than one contest a day? I still have one contest in the steemit crypto academy which i will be submitting tomorrow sunday because we can't enter two of these contests daily. Please you people should also check the rules.

The whole idea behind to end it on Saturday was to sum up on Sunday and issue winner post on Monday, according the Steemit team. Because the announcement post was issued on Sunday, but also if you read our post carefully you should have seen that it was already in the context of the post.
I think there should be some changes in the deadline. This time we will extend it till Sunday and we are still waiting for the feedback from the Steemit Team too.

You've displayed lots of patience in the linework! I would've liked to see if you wanted to attempt some more shading as I think you're showing you've got the skills. Overall I liked seeing the careful approach you took and having a real flower as reference must've really helped you get such nice shapes. Nice work!

Hi @simonnwigwe, as you might noticed hte Challenge is Visual Art and if we say Art we want to see something that will catch the eye of viewer. In your case, you took as an example a flower which has yellow and green colours with nice shadows and highlight of petals and leaves. But the drawing that you presented looks unfinished, there are no difference between the leaves and flower. For the next time if you want to take part it would be good if you pay more attention to values of shading and texture to give 3 dimensional view.

You have chosen a beautiful plastic flower to draw and you show us, step by step how not to draw it. First, the composition is a mass located too high that it almost escapes from the paper.
There are no details to minimally define a flower, there are no petals like the ones your model has. Nor is there a noticeable difference between petals and leaves.
And what a way to mistreat a drawing paper!!
Next time, try to do it in a more thoughtful and careful way.
