Wood Burned Art: Year of the Rabbit (Club100)
Hey everyone. If you've followed our last few posts, you know life has been busy and pretty rough from a health of family/friends standpoint. Well, things haven't gotten any better.
Yesterday, our friend and roommate's father passed away after battling cancer for the past 6 months. It was abrupt and unexpected after he had successfully gone through radiation, chemo, and surgery. He had been put on a ventilator and sedated before most of the family could say goodbye. He was a very fun person to be around so our hearts are heavy at the moment from his passing. To @jae5086, he was like a second father, having known him since he was roughly 8 years old.
To make matters worse, while telling his family the sad news, jae discovered his own father was just diagnosed with cancer as well. Fortunately, his cancer should be far less invasive, having been found in the earlobe. That makes it easier news to digest, but still unwelcome.
Regardless, life goes on and, while saddened by these recent events, we remain positive and look towards a brighter future. That, of course, means continuing to create art and try to advance the business. I recently hit 1,000+ followers on my TikTok channel, so I can now do TikTok live videos, which has helped push me above 1,400 followers. We've paid far less attention to YouTube (at the moment) but have gotten a few more old videos created back during the Covid lockdown posted.
This piece is one of several I made featuring mythical rabbits in honor of the onset of "Year of the Rabbit". This pyrography art features a rabbit with a unicorn horn. I went with a color inversion on this one, darkening the background only in the center and leaving the outer portion natural.
After some white color highlights, I used a gold paint pen to outline the darkened center and horn. Seal it up and done!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the art and my sad stories didn't leave you feeling negative. Without the bad, we won't appreciate the good. So, cheer up and enjoy life! Until next time, ta-ta!
