Wood-Burned Art: Cheese Serving Board X-Mas Gift (Club100)

Hello everyone! The weekend got away from us and we weren't able to get on much. Life happens fast sometimes, especially with Christmas coming up soon. I ran a 20% off sale on my Etsy site last week but didn't get many sales. Got one as soon as it ended. Silly person should have been faster. Full price for you!

I am actually starting to struggle a little at the moment for content, particularly since I am remaking a bunch of Calvin & Hobbes pieces that sold during our recent show. @jae5086 might have to find some ways to bolster our blogging (maybe showcasing some of his work as a concrete flooring contractor, but he thinks it would be too boring), especially if the writing contest is going to be on hold while @xpilar is on vacation.

Today's art showcase is a Christmas gift for his sister. She was looking for a cheese serving board so naturally, I volunteered to cover that gift and make it myself. This one is a simple, 100% pyrography piece. No color needed.

I had taken some time (probably too much honestly) to doodle out a bunch of mice since I was told that was something she would like, and their mother chose which ones she liked. There is a mouse playing with some cheese for each of her children (and an extra one for her new husband's child as well) plus the two on the left that represent the newlyweds. What a happy mousy family. Then I threw a bunch of cheese blocks around. The board in coated in mineral oil, which is very easy to do and keeps it food safe.

That gift is done and now I have to work on a commission for our roommate and @jae5086's best friend: a tauntaun meat cut board. I've showcased one on here before for you Star Wars fans but this one is being customized to his specification so I will definitely post that when it is done. I'm just still waiting for his final thoughts. Luckily, that won't take long to make and, being a cutting board, will also use mineral oil instead of my regular sealers to keep it food safe, which is a much faster process.
