Punk Rock Flea Market - Day 2steemCreated with Sketch.

Welcome back steemians.

Don't forget to read Punk Rock Flea Market - Day 1 first to get the full story on how our 2 day show went before you continue!

Sunday morning we were able to move at a slower pace as there wasn't much to accomplish. The stand was already set up and all we really needed to do was change some pricing. We had a beat on what was selling and what was not after Saturday's sales topped 30. It was enough sample size to trust the numbers and we were surprised by certain items not moving. Particularly we lowered the price on the coasters, which we thought would sell well in this setting so close to Christmas, yet not a single one was purchased.

To this point, almost nothing but wood slice ornaments and hanging art was sold. The only exception being a keychain and a single stash box, which was the last sale of the previous day. We also slashed the price on some of the most expensive wall art pieces in hopes of compelling people to buy.

The market wanted vendors there an hour before doors opened. It took so little time to make the price changes and accomplish the other little tasks necessary to set up for the day that we found ourselves with a lot of time to wait and wander the grounds. Sadly, when the event began, my worst fears seemed to become reality.

The previous day started with a bang and we were consistently interacting with customers and making sales over the first few hours of the show. I came into Sunday worried that I had already sold most of the Calvin and Hobbes pieces and sales would suffer as a result. As such, we knew Sunday wouldn't be as high in sales as the prior day, but we also didn't need nearly as much to hit our goals.

Over the first hour and a half, we had very low volume of people coming to our stand and what few sales we made were all low ticket items that did little to push us towards our goals. Two hours in and meeting our first target of $2,000 in sales looked sketchy and the second goal of $2,400 felt out of reach. At least the people watching was amusing!

Fortunately, things did pickup as we got closer to midday. Perhaps people simply wanted to sleep in on a Sunday morning. With sports starting in the early afternoon though, on top it being a rainy day, things still did not look positive. Luckily, this expectation proved false and the market stayed busy through the afternoon much later than the previous day. While we did sell fewer art (17 versus 31), the average cost of art sold was higher on the second day.

In the end, we sold $875 worth of art on day 2, bringing our total to $2,335. This exceeded the original and got us just $65 shy of the second goal. The second goal represented a $2,000 gross profit after cost of the booth. In the end, it was a great show for us and, had I some more Calvin and Hobbes pieces, I probably would have made a couple more sales at least. This things are just so popular!

I hope you enjoyed the story of our first multi-day art show. We look forward to the next one, whenever and wherever that ends up being. In the meantime, I need to rebuild my inventory a bit, so it's back to making art now for me! So long and I'll see you all again soon.

This is practically a victory :))
Congratulations!

Thanks! They have another one in roughly 3 months we will probably try out. We'll see if the upcoming holidays were the largest factor. If not, we'll probably keep doing it quarterly.

In any case, you need to try))

That is nice to hear (about achieving your goal). Your inventory looks great. A lot of different options to choose from.

Yeah, though it's a bit lower now. Good problem to have! Now I'm running a sale on my Etsy site, so hopefully a few more sales in time to ship for the holidays.

I hope so.

Congrats on the sales @scratched-burnt. Selling art can be hit-or-miss sometimes.
