Learn To Prioritise What Influences You Positively

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 years ago

A lot of people act because of some factors that influence both their perception and their judgement. Yes, you will be surprised how external factors like environment, social norms, friend's advice, etc, can go to influence one's actions which can be either positive or negative. This is why, for the sake of not just your sanity but your future, you have to favour more of what normally influences you positively. If you know that going to a place will ultimately lead to performing unwholesome actions, but there is another place where, if you go to, you will become more motivated to succeed, you should favour and prioritise the latter.

More often than not, what influences do is to alter your state of mind to make you to begin to think in a certain way until it becomes your dominant thought. When that happens, it will influence your emotions to be in line with your thought. Then your emotions will go on to influence the way you perceive the world around you and this will also determine your response, not just to the world but to opportunities as they come. Of course, your perception of the way you see opportunities also determines how you act on them. So you see, all of these influences have their root in the state of mind. This is why you have to make the things that affect your state of mind positively your priority.

The mind is a very powerful and potent tool that can altar someone and the course of their life either positively or negatively. If you are able to align your mind towards a particular thing, it will not be long and you will see your entire life being tilted towards that particular thing. This is why, when you see someone thinking in a particular way, it will not be long and the person's lifestyle will be fashioned after that particular way. This is just to prove to you how strong the influence of the mind on other aspects of the human endeavour is.

I read about a social experiment that was conducted by a group of psychologists in a particular renowned University. They gathered a group of young people as their case study without telling them what the experiment was all about, neither did they even know it was for an experiment. They were able to talk the young people into believing that they committed a particular crime. After a while of convincing them, one of them believed that he committed the crime. After a while of still pressing further another person also accepted to committing the crime and before they knew it, all of them accepted to have committed the crime.

Now the bottom line is that the crime never existed and it was never committed. But why they were able to accept committing it is because their mindsets were able to be influenced so they believed that they had done what they did not. With the right influence, the mind is capable of believing in anything. One of things that can influence, in no small way, the way we think is the people we company with. It is worthy to note that the people you stay often with tend to become one of your biggest influences and can either serve as a source of inspiration or de-motivation. If you do not use your mind to your advantage by creating positive thoughts that will lead to positive actions, then you are not optimizing the full uses of the mind.

You have to be cautious about what you feed your mind with, because it will determine what your mind will give back to you. Obviously, the mind works in a "garbage in, garbage out" model. If you fill your mind with positive thoughts, it will create a positive mindset for you and then it will influence your actions positively. With your actions being positive, then your result is expected to follow after the same order.
