Keep Dreaming Big Even If You Have To Start Small

Having a big dream is a big motivation on its own. In fact, the foundation for any significant achievement is partly built on dreaming big. By dreaming big, I mean imagining the impossible, envisioning a great future, and hoping for something bigger. However, big dreams on their own may not be all that it required for the success to come. It is good to have those really massive dreams, but it is your action that will power them. While you are having a big dream, which is good, the journey to its realisation starts with small but continuous and deliberate steps. You do not get to the top by jumping onto it, but by taking steps continuously and climbing. It does not matter how you start, what matters is that you have started and you are making progress.

No matter the kind of dream that you have and how brilliantly big it may be, it is only the steps that you take that will bring the rewards. Know that intentions are not rewarded, neither is what you have in mind, but it is the result that you were able to obtain that will be rewarded. Without taking the right steps towards your dream, then it may remain in its state of dream and may not see the light of the day. In order to get to your destination, there is a need for you to take a step from where you are, without a recourse to the size of your first step. If you take a small step, you are better than the person who keeps waiting to start big but never starts.

Why a lot of people draw back from pursuing after their dream is because of procrastination, with the hopes to find the perfect time to start. You have to know that, that you started small does not mean that the later steps will not be great, neither does it mean that you cannot finish great. It is worthy to note that start small is not an equivalent of thinking small. Rather, it means that you have realised that the every life's journey, irrespective of the destination, will definitely begin with a step. If you have a dream to become a pilot, then you have to take a step to register into a aviation school and then begin to take flying lessons. Every step you take, no matter how small it is, as long as it is on the right track, will get you close to your dream.

When you start small but promptly, you will have plenty of time at you disposal to learn and take corrections even if the steps turns out south. Taking steps gives you the an ample opportunity to gain experiences, build momentum, and then make continuous progress and achievements. More so, there is a level of confidence that comes when you do something that you have tried before. This is because you must have gained the required experiences and learned the relevant lessons to make you next step better and more productive. Do not wait until you can take a giant leap before you take a step; take the small step first and you will see opportunities to take a giant leap.

You will be surprised that a lot of very accomplished people in various fields of endeavours have stories of starting small. I once read the story of the man Jeff Bezos, who is in the top 10 richest people and founder of Amazon, who also recently launched a space shuttle. Everyone now sees his glory, but not too many people know about the story of how he started small. When he started, he was selling books online, right inside his garage. The small step did not stop him from growing big, rather it gave him the needed experience, exposure, and boost, which gave him the kind of success he needed and made his dreams to be actualized.

The journey towards actualising your dreams requires dedication, patience, continuity, perseverance and determination. Just know that the process may not be easy but at the end, it will be worth it. If the destination is the goal, then the steps must be necessary. Always have in mind that the outcome of your life is at the mercy of your choices and decisions.
