There must be a reason art does not flow out of prisons. One might think long bouts of solitude would spark creative work, and masterpieces of all art forms would be born out of incarceration. Back when I worked stultifying jobs, I’d pine for time to release the energy stopped inside me. Any chance I got away from the time clock, I would find ways to create in the culinary, visual and writing arts. I thought I was trapped trading my physical and spiritual energies for another person’s goal-seeking. Yet no matter how bogged down with work, my mind was still free. I was prolific outside the grind of 9 to 5, even when caught in the web of it.
Prison is not humane. Forced separation from patterns of life, love and familiarity usher in the death of joy and creativity.
Some photos of the region of Spain that the United States Government exiled us to. Not too bad. Just not free. And all the live long day I was inspired and inspiring like mud cake.
When an unusual situation occurs, many emotional states are experienced in a very short time. Of course, various thoughts accompanying the emotions also run in the mind. Thus, I think a medium for art is formed. More precisely, it happens with those who can turn these feelings and thoughts into art.
This painting has been a great inspiration from captivity. By the way, your holiday photos that combined with nature and history are very nice :)

I agree. Though I still have not got back the peace which brings practice and patience. I know the lull will break. Time is a friend.
We also build a lot of little prisons around ourselves.... To escape them seems to me almost more important - for personal development and for creativity.

Ja, ich bin in vielerlei Hinsicht ein Gefangener. Wenn ich zum Beispiel Neid auf Kunst verspüre, weiß ich, dass ich immer noch feststecke. Deshalb bleibe ich dran und übe – wie Meditation. Viele, viele Wege zu Satori.
Yes, I am a prisoner in many unseen ways. For instance, when I feel envy in art, I know that I’m still stuck. That’s why I keep at it, and practice—like meditation. Many, many paths to satori.
