Marker Drawings - Ran Art Blog

My latest drawings.

First, a bamboo drawing with markers and colored pencils on toned paper.

It is from my realistic tree drawing guide.

I use markers as a base layer, determining the structure, colors, values, saturation and temperature.
Then, I use colored pencils for details and to add contrast.

My second drawing is of lamps.

It is from my professional painters - painting tips, which is a gallery full of aspiring artists who master realistic painting.
I recommend reading their painting tips.

Wow, Ran! 🎨 Your bamboo drawing looks stunning! The combination of markers and colored pencils really brings the structure and details to life. I love how you've used the markers for the base layer to establish such a strong foundation.

Keep up the fantastic work!

Thank you very much for the kind words.
I'll add that the toned paper helps with reducing the saturation.
Objects in real life are not saturated.
On the other hand, there are no light areas on a toned paper, and that's where the colored pencils do the job.

Hello @ranartblog.
I liked the way you have created shadows in the painting, it gives three dimensionality to the objet & adds to the realism. This is master craftsmanship.
Simply amazing...

Thank you very much for the kind words.
The key is to make sure the object has hard edges, while the cast shadows have soft edges.
