Esta es la unica caracteristica que possen las aves y que no la comparten con ningun otro animal en el planeta, se trata de poseer en su cuerpo "plumas", estas estructuras que crecen en su piel tienen diferentes funciones en el animal, desde proteccion del clima bien sea por lluvia, calor o frio, hasta darle la capacidad de volar cuando unimos muchas plumas entonces el termino correcto es "plumaje" pero alguna vez llegaste a ver una en un microscopio? acompañame en este pequeño post donde resaltaremos los rasgos mas caracteristicos!👨‍🎓🐦🦉

Si buscamos una escama de un pez, o una uña de cualquier animal y analizamos su caracteristica quimica nos encontramos que estan echas de queratina, y en las plumas de las aves se aplica el mismo caso, una pluma esta compuesta de queratina lo que le da cierta rigidez e impermeabilidad. Ademas las caracteristicas quimicas de la pluma ayudan a rebotar los rayos UV del sol! apesar de que si tomamos una pluma y la pasamos por nuestra piel sentiremos que son delicadas pero en realidad son muy resistente y ayudan a retener el calor entre la piel del animal evitando el frio!😋😋

La pregunta que debemos responder es porque hay aves con plumas que no vuelan? tal es el caso del avestruz??? en realidad los evolucionistas ven esto ventajoso y se formulo una teoria que las aves primitivas (dinosaurio), desarrollaron las primeras plumas para evitar el frio y que posteriormente las utilizaron para poder volar y asi conquistar nuevos territorios! el Archaeopteryx es un ave primitiva que se extinguio hace millones de años y de aqui fue que evolucionaron las aves modernas, el usaba las plumas para planear entre arboles.🦖🦕

Aqui podemos ver las principales partes de la pluma comenzando con un tubo hueco en el centro llamado raquis, el sitio de la pluma que va insertado en la piel se llama calamo, luego tenemos las barbas que son el conjunto de barbillas que salen desde el raquis y que tienen unas sierras llamadas espinas que hacen que las plumas esten conectadas entre si! aqui no las apreciamos porque esta pluma es un plumon basicamente la primera en salir en zonas como por ejemplo en la cloaca del animal!😎😎

Como lo mencione anteriormente existen diferentes tipos de plumas y esto nos dice que todas tienen una funcion diferente en el animal, por ejemplo las plumas primarias y secundarias son las mas largas y duras, y son indispensable para el vuelo del animal, las aves son extraordinarias porque sin las plumas no era posible el vuelo! claro las plumas no son pesadas porque son ligeras y huecas al igual que los huesos de las aves, ellas evolucionaron para ser lo menos pesadas y poder conquistar los cielos!✈🛫🛬
