UFO Landing

Here I am.
Standing out in the rain.
It happens too often.
Here where I am.

The Giant Mushroom 🍄 whispered in my ear. How’s that possible some might start to consider. Well, when you’re lying on wet grass to take its hopefully perfect photo, that’s the least that can happen.

The Giant Mushroom tricked me into overstaying in Richmond Park. I was close to being locked in. I wasn’t really worried. There must be an emergency gate, so it will just be a matter of time to find it. Plus I’m also close by the Pembroke Lodge so I might chance it and turn up uninvited for that posh event I saw people arriving for earlier. Pity I’ve got neither a long floral print dress nor golden or silver high heels. I just didn’t get the dress code memo.

By hypnotising me to stay and photo it even longer, this Giant Mushroom desperate for attention, rewarded me with fascinating sunset photos.

The Giant Mushroom was very right about the rain. It told me but I didn’t listen. So here I still am lying on the wet grass taking photos of it. Somebody walks past. Stops. Probably looking at me right now. Maybe cares if I am okay but doesn’t actually ask. I’m glad I’m not being interrupted.

But that doesn’t last long. Covered in mud like a puppy and yes, that’s not a first, here I am at Richmond station. I get on an overground train which just terminated here so I know it’s going to be a bit of a wait now till we’re on the move. So what a wonderful opportunity to take my camera out and look at the Giant Mushroom photos. I didn’t get the chance to as obviously I am the approachable stranger. So there she is, no face mask on, yes it’s still compulsory on the public transport here and brand new shiny clean leather boots. She’s been shopping she’s telling me. No bags? Window shopping I guess. Can’t blame her. I also like it better as it’s quicker and you don’t have to pay in the end. She’s never been around here. First time. I like that. She’s getting off at Gunnersbury so I tell her that the station tends to close for few hours when Brentford are playing at home, this weekend it was against Chelsea. So now she gets worried for no reason and can’t wait for this train to depart. Makes two of us I thought.

Ufo is a great title for this unique mushroom. I wish someone had taken a photo of you while you were taking its photo. I would want to see you take this passionate shoot :)

I’m glad you like the title @serap 👩‍💻I thought it shouldn’t necessarily describe the subject exactly so I didn't go for just mushroom or mushroom sunset 🌅 Wish I had such a photo to share it here. This is actually how I love photoing myself with the self shooting mode on or even being taken photo of: while taking photos 📸 I’ve been told that I actually smile when I take a photo 🙃

Self-shooting feels more comfortable. In addition, the poses taken when we are alone with ourselves are very enjoyable. I hope we see your self-shooting photo one day :)

That’s a great idea 💡@serap I will do my best and implement a photo of me talking photos within a post one day. Right now I’m working on a new avatar image for my Steemit account 💁‍♀️ Hopefully I’ll be ready and will go live with it in the next few days 📸

I'm looking forward to your new avatar photo :)

I love how the mushroom stands out against the sunset, it definitely looks like it has arrived from another world and landed their alone!

Worth getting covered in mud for :)

I am really glad that you like the thumbnail photo @hazyjames Mushrooms are a subject which one can photo best from eye level. Same like when interacting with a dog or a child. They connect with you better when you’re not just looking at them from above.

There was somebody who foraged few of these mushrooms that day by the way and got told off by the park rangers. They, male and female, were wearing bright orange T-shirts 😱 The least you might find suitable for the job 🤔 Anyway, so it’s not allowed to forage for mushrooms in Richmond Park. It doesn’t sound that you’re considering that but I thought I’d rather mention it. The park rangers also explained that even if you’re certain that this mushroom is edible you can’t be sure what’s been on it, so it’s never a good idea to pick it up, go home and cook tea 👩‍🍳 You might even hate mushrooms or are allergic to them.

They are not my favourite thing to eat at all, I don’t mind the taste but the texture is not for me. I don’t mind cooking them though if there is someone who enjoys eating them.

Hopefully the person you saw getting caught taking mushrooms knows which ones they were picking or a telling off might have been the least of their worries…

That’s very we’ll said @hazyjames It might be an idea for another post about turning every negative into a positive. The park rangers sounded very knowledgeable and experienced. Not sure about the forager as then he also said that he thought to feed some of these mushrooms to the deer in the park hopefully not just to take a selfie 🤳 While all these was going on a green woodpecker flew by which actually made my day👌
