#club5050 Kids Fishing
Welcome to the holy spring in Tirta Empul Temple on the paradise island of Bali in Indonesia. @mister-omortson's weekly contest made me revisit this special place popular amongst both locals and tourists.
Here is also where some kids get their hands literally busy fishing. There is plenty of koi carp living happily in the ponds. This sacred large fish is used to being fed by the visitors and therefore is not scared by humans.
It seems pretty close to swallowing the small coin which you just tossed in the water. Then having just missed this one of many opportunities the humans keep creating, without any hesitation, it approaches your hand, expecting a snack.
So mischievous kids sometimes take advantage of the koi carp and catch the big fish with bare hands hoping to take it home. As you can see from my photo they were very pleased with their catch of the day. The boys were very proud and happy to show me the fish and have their photo taken.
I bet I just spoke to them in English visibly overexcited. They probably spoke back to me in their native language but this is one of those moments in life when you do not just end up lost in translation, asking your driver or local tour guide for assistance.
I also came to know that as expected you are not allowed to fish inside a temple. This fish is sacred and should remain there and not be disturbed at all.
However I guess we can make an exception for a bunch of kids at least once. I bet they were told off inside and asked to leave but they got to keep the fish which I am not really sure what they intend to do with really.
Here in England we do not eat carp but I have eaten carp in Romania, cooked in brine and served with polenta. It became a favourite dish of mine so I even started refusing dining in restaurants which didn't have this traditional meal on their menu.

Hello friend, I nominate you to #wox-bestpick because your publication is very beautiful. I loved the photos that show the beautiful fish in the pond in striking colors. Also the beautiful image of the children who reflect a lot of tenderness and innocence with the fish in their hand. It was a very unexpected statement.
But I like to eat medium-sized carp. Large, very fat.
And even better, "crucian carp in sour cream".
Is it just me, or have we moved on to the topic of food again? 😂😂😂
Welcome to my country @petface :)
