A GOA ADVENTURE TO REMEMBER - WOX TRAVEL CONTEST | WEEK 16
Our First Trip Together: A Goa Adventure to Remember
There's something special about firsts---First meetings, first social gatherings, and of course, first trips. This is a story of our first journey as a couple, full of excitement, challenges, and unforgettable experiences. What's the destination? GOA is a vibrant, sun-soaked land!
The journey Begins: A crazy and exciting start, we had carefully planned this trip, booking trin tickets two months in advance. The day has finally arrived- October 30th, the day before Diwali. We left home a couple of hours early, full of excitement, but destiny had other plans. Rajkot's roads were jammed with Diwali traffic, and each honk adds to our increasing worry about missing the train. Yet, with all the stress, there was joy. The streets were filled with DJs blasting holidays tunes, and we couldn't help out but enjoy the music and the atmosphere of stress.
We made it to the station hardly in time after a lot of efforts. But surprise! Only one of the two tickets we booked was confirmed. It was a test of patience and talent to share a single seat for twenty-four hours. Even if it wasn't easy, the idea of Goa boosted our moods.
Unplanned Delays and Midnight Rain:When we arrived in Goa at midnight, we were greeted by heavy rains instead of sandy beaches. The weather continued to frustrate us, as if to test our excitement, and we had to wait for a taxi at the station for an hour. We finally arrived at our cozy resort, Vinson's Cottage, wet and tired. we fell into the bed, too tired to eat, dreaming of what to came next.
The Journey Begins: The next morning gave fresh energy. My husband, Kishor, went to hire a bike and came back with a shinning red beauty that we called Laalwati. She turned into our trusty travel buddy. Colva Beach, which is nearby and just a few steps from the resort, was the first place we visited. Bread, Jam, Butter, and Tea made up the "American style" breakfast, which was simple but exciting for us as a first-time visitor! With its golden sands and crystal- clear water, the beach was beautiful. We walked, took pictures, and laughed at the numerous liquor stores that lined every street because all these are new to us and also ban in Gujarat.
We took Laalwati from colva to the Japanese Garden in the hope of peace. While the Garden did not exactly meet our expectations, it did allow us to enjoy the small things- such as crows and the greenery all over, which we rarely see in my city Rajkot! The Japanese beach right next was a hidden gem- quiet, peaceful, and beautiful.
Hunger, Beaches, and Goa Charm: As the afternoon passed, we were very hungry. But most restaurants were closed for Laxmi Puja. Sad but unbothered, we booked tables at Baina Beach, drinking soft drinks and enjoying the calm while waiting for restaurants to reopen. We found a nice restaurant and ate a full dinner. With our energy recharged, we returned to Colva Beach, ready to jump into the ocean. Both of us had to buy new clothes for the situation, exchanging our jeans for beachwear. Splashing in the water with the evening crowd was pure satisfaction. The laughs, the cool waves, and the fight to get the perfect photo made it all wonderful.
A Memorable Start: The day end with a feeling of satisfaction. Our first trip together was about more than just visiting Goa; it was about enjoying every moment, whether it was the midnight rains, the shared train seat, or peaceful laughter on the beach. Life gave us some challenges, but our excitement and love of adventures changed them into memories to cherish. Goa gave us with not only a destination but also a lifetime of memories.
This was only the beginning of our journey as travelers and life partners.
