Growing POMEGRANATES in Zones 6 & 7 (Russian 26)

in WORLD OF XPILARyesterday

We actually have pomegranates growing on our homestead!

When we moved to the Ozarks to start our homestead, we had no idea that we could successfully grow pomegranates here. As it turns out, thanks to the Russian 26 variety, we can. So far we've planted a few mature bushes, and they've flowered and fruited, so we still have to see how they make it through our winter, but we're hopeful they do amazing.

Just growing pomegranates north of USDA hardiness zone 8 sounds amazing to me, so we are super excited. This low calorie, low fat fruit packed with vitamins, minerals and fiber will be a welcome addition to our perennial food supply on the homestead, and a big thanks to our friend who picked up these plants and had me put them in our soil.

Do you grow your own pomegranates? Would you if you could? Let us know below, and enjoy the show!
