Saya sedang berhadapan dengan Laptop, membalas seluruh email-email penting dan laporan yang harus segera saya kirimkan siang itu. Suasana warung kopi yang cukup ramai membuat sesekali konsentrasi saya teralihkan. Tak berselang lama kemudian, seorang sosok laki-laki muda yang cukup familiar menyapa saya, kami ngobrol sejenak kemudian percakapan kami menjadi ajakan untuk mengambil foto sunset di sebuah lokasi di Kabupaten Barru, Sulawesi Selatan.

Sungguh ajakan yang datang di waktu yang pas, karena pekerjaan sudah saya selesaikan, dan Keesokan harinya adalah waktu Libur, saya langsung menyetujuinya. Kami bergegas menuju Barru, saya mengajak Rekan saya untuk menggunakan mobil saya saja untuk menuju lokasi foto. Kami mengajak seorang beberapa rekan lagi saat dalam perjalanan menuju Barru. Total ada 4 orang beserta saya yang akan menuju lokasi untuk Seascape Photography.

Perjalanan kami tempuh selama 1 jam 30 menit. Jarak Makassar-Barru memang cukup jauh kurang lebih 100 KM. Sepanjang perjalanan saya hanya berharap semoga langit bersahabat saat kami tiba di lokasi agar perjalanan jauh ini tidak sia-sia belaka.

Kami Tiba saat waktu menunjukan pukul 16.00 Masih ada waktu hampir 2 jam sebelum waktu sunset tiba. Disini saya membuat satu kesalahan yang pada akhirnya cukup saya sesali. karena Terlampau antusias, saya banyak mengambil gambar test shot mencari-cari komposisi yang pas untuk foto nanti sambil mengabaikan kondisi Battery kamera yang sudah mulai menipis.

Langit mulai berubah keemasan di kejauhan namun di Lokasi foto ini, langit sudah mulai mendung. Saya agak sedikit kecewa, namun tetap mengambil beberapa foto. untungnya kondisi cuaca ini tidak bertahan lama, karena Hujan kemudian berhenti dan langit menjadi sangat dramatis untuk kami foto.

Saya mengambil beberapa foto dengan Perahu nelayan sebagai objeknya. Saat itu ombak sudah akan pasang, sehingga saya memutuskan untuk memasang ND filter untuk membuat permukaan air menjadi mulus. Sayangnya saat saya sedang asyik-asyiknya mengambil gambar, Battery kamera saya sudah mulai Low. sehingga saya melewatkan momen saat langit berubah menjadi merah. dengan perasaan kecewa saya kembali ke Mobil, menungu rekan yang masih mengambil foto.

Suatu pengalaman yang akan selalu saya ingat, terutama jika menuju sebuah lokasi yang jauh secara spontan tanpa persiapan. Agar saat melakukan perjalanan berikutnya, saya bisa lebih teliti untuk membawa battery kamera cadangan.

I was sitting in front of my laptop, responding to all the important emails and reports that I needed to send that afternoon. The bustling atmosphere of the coffee shop occasionally distracted my concentration. Not long after, a familiar-looking young man greeted me. We chatted for a moment, and our conversation led to an invitation to capture the sunset at a location in Barru Regency, South Sulawesi.

It was a perfectly timed invitation—my work was done, and the next day was a holiday. Without hesitation, I agreed. We quickly set off for Barru, and I suggested using my car to reach the location. Along the way, we invited a few more friends to join us. In total, there were four of us heading to the location for seascape photography.

The journey took about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The distance from Makassar to Barru is quite far, approximately 100 km. Throughout the trip, I could only hope that the sky would be kind to us upon arrival so that our long journey wouldn’t be in vain.

We arrived at 4:00 PM, with almost two hours left before sunset. Here, I made a mistake that I would later regret. In my enthusiasm, I took a lot of test shots, searching for the perfect composition while ignoring the fact that my camera battery was already running low.

The sky in the distance started turning golden, but at our location, clouds were beginning to gather. I felt slightly disappointed but continued taking photos. Fortunately, the cloudy weather didn’t last long. The rain stopped, and the sky became incredibly dramatic—perfect for photography.

I took several shots with a fisherman’s boat as the main subject. As the tide started to rise, I decided to use a ND filter to smooth out the water’s surface. Unfortunately, just as I was deeply immersed in capturing the scene, my camera battery ran low. As a result, I missed the moment when the sky turned a striking red. Disappointed, I returned to the car and waited for my friends, who were still busy taking pictures.

This experience is something I will always remember—especially when traveling spontaneously to a distant location without proper preparation. Next time, I will make sure to bring a spare camera battery to avoid missing another perfect moment.
