Do not turn on the light tonight... Let all the moonlight
Stay outside. The stars, quite visible,
Twinkling like a string of daisies in the air!
Moths enter, half-dazed...
Dusk... A bat, fluttering,
Passes by... passes by again... passes by once more...
Everything seems to be asleep...
Gently... Brush your fingers over the keys,
In the vague sigh that elevates and gilds everything,
Soul, Sanctuary of Souls, my Beloved!
And, while the piano exhales its sweet lament,
Divine and sorrowful, the great blonde shadow
Comes to me from the darkness of the room...
