Purple, unlike green, blue or brown, among other colors, is not commonly found in nature, being considered a rare and intriguing shade, reasons why, since ancient times it has been related to royalty.
This color is also attributed other meanings, being linked to creativity, wisdom, power, ambition and luxury; it can also represent magic, extravagance, peace, pride and independence.
The National Flower of Venezuela is the orchid, a distinction that was granted in 1951 for its remarkable qualities, among which stand out its shape, size, color and its singular beauty. Since then, this flower has been considered one of our national symbols.
Near my home is the Flor de Venezuela Cultural Center, a monument that is part of the architectural and cultural heritage of both the city and the country, having served as the exhibition pavilion that represented us at the 2000 World's Fair held in the German city of Hannover.
Its design is inspired by the orchid and the tepuis, ancient geological formations located in the south of the country, in the Venezuelan Amazon. At night, its 16 petals are illuminated in purple, making it a beautiful visual spectacle.

El púrpura, a diferencia del verde, el azul o el marrón, entre otros colores; no se encuentra comúnmente en la naturaleza, siendo considerado una tonalidad rara e intrigante, razones por las cuales, desde tiempos remotos se le ha relacionado con la realeza.
Este color también se le atribuyen otros significados, estando vinculado con la creatividad, la sabiduría, el poder, la ambición y el lujo; además, puede representar la magia, la extravagancia, la paz, el orgullo y la independencia.
La Flor Nacional de Venezuela es la orquídea, distinción que se le otorgó en 1951 por sus notables cualidades, entre las que destacan su forma, tamaño, color y su singular belleza. Desde entonces, esta flor ha sido considerada como uno de nuestros símbolos patrios.
En las cercanías de mi hogar se encuentra el Centro Cultural Flor de Venezuela, un monumento que constituye parte del patrimonio arquitectónico y cultural, tanto de la ciudad como del país, habiendo servido como el pabellón de exhibiciones que nos representó en la Feria Mundial 2000 realizada en la ciudad alemana de Hannover.
Su diseño está inspirado en la orquídea y en los tepuyes, unas antiquísimas formaciones geológicas ubicadas al sur del país, en la Amazonía venezolana. Durante la noche, sus 16 pétalos son iluminados de color púrpura, convirtiéndose en un hermoso espectáculo visual.
