Last Hope | Melancholy

Hello my dear people of Hive, happy Sunday and welcome to another art post, today I want to return to the theme of (Melancholy); this is a collection of drawings on this theme that I started last year and in which I try to capture a little of the feeling of sadness or pain in some of my works. Today's drawing is a drawing which I decided to title The last Hope, in which we see a pretty girl with blonde hair and bright whose name is curiously Esperanza, I decided to call it that way because I liked it a lot and I thought it would be a good touch for what I wanted to convey of this character; without further ado I leave you with the process of my work.

PROCESS

To start with my drawing I had to devise a way for the drawing to take on a meaning or form, for this I decided to create a kind of foreground from the bottom where you can see Esperanza staring sadly at the sky looking for responses to your pain; After having my idea well defined, it was there that I dedicated myself to looking for some good colors to try to build Esperanza's character in a good way.

As this would be a work with a little sadness theme I decided to make a union or mixture perhaps of warm colors along with cold colors to try a little and try to make a drawing that would stand out a lot; to the skin first of all I gave a light touch of blush to the cheeks and nose. Then I created darker strokes along with some very bright ones to give a little volume to the skin; I continued painting a textured layer of small freckles on the cheekbones and around the eyes, finally I focused more on the eyes and used more striking tones such as bright green along with a soft red on the lips.

As I told you before my idea was to make a union of warm colors with cold colors, that's why I decided to paint Esperanza's clothes with a dark and intense purple color with a tendency to blue tones that I found in my color palette; I decided to paint a kind of silk shirt with a high neck and long sleeves. I created some texture to the shirt with some small lines to resemble certain wrinkles on the sleeves and other areas; after the shirt I moved on to painting the hair where from the beginning I knew it would be blonde, but I had to scale a lot of colors to get a good blonde look.

For the end what I had left to do was to give a little more sense to my drawing, and for this I had to paint a good background that would fit the character and the theme, for this I first tried to paint a kind of evening sky with a sun hiding maybe; but then I decided to go towards the cold tones and therefore I painted better an open balcony night. I painted some clouds in the sky as if it was about to start raining, I also painted a moon as if it was in its 4th waning phase, basically because the idea came to me suddenly and that's it, hahahahahah; finally, I applied the illumination filter to correct a little bit because it seemed to me that I went a little bit too much with the cold tones.
