Cassie, The Olive Forest Creeper

Good morning my art-loving people, today I come to you with a work that I decided to do having as a reference the theme of nature and forest; that is why I present Cassie, The Olive Forest Creeper. Cassie is the guardian and protector of a mysterious forest known as the Olive Forest, here inhabit many species and creatures of nature in peace and harmony; all this thanks to the Presence of Cassie, who with the help of her powerful magic staff pulls the strings and control at will all the vegetation that covers the forest:

PROCESS

My main idea for this character was to create a very young girl, with an approximate age between adolescence and adulthood, this because it would be a character with a great personality and temper; even so I also wanted to print a little confidence and tranquility in her face, because she is a person who does not get carried away easily by her emotions. The choice of colors for this drawing I decided to go towards strong and a little saturated tones, that's why I decided to color her skin with a brownish appearance; the clothing gave me a little work because I tried several shades of yellow and brown, but finally I decided for more soft greenish tones.

I was working the skin and especially the face very carefully and using brushes a little rough when blurring and blending, I did this to try something new in this work; I created several layers, but finally I achieved a fairly smooth and slightly shiny skin. Afterwards, the painting of the eyes I decided to create it with brown tones, I thought that they would give a good contrast to the skin and above all to the hair that would be worked with very light yellow tones.

The creation of the clothes for Cassie was one of the most extensive steps in the painting process, although I had decided the color range towards green tones, even so, I had to try several brushes because with the airbrush the texture looked a little ugly; that's why I used watercolor and little by little I added a bit of worn shape for the upper part of the suit. For the lower part of the suit I created a kind of tight mesh suit, for this I used a flat tip brush to create this fabric; then using the eraser brush with opacity at 40% I erased from the inside the dark part to get that effect like a slightly translucent lycra fabric.

I painted the hair with open-ended brushes, and with short strokes I managed to create it in a good way; after this I only focused on creating the crown of tree branches and the magic staff, above all, and for this I created a special layer. First I was establishing what would be the bases of the wood with a very intense brown, then with the watercolor brush and square tip I was giving the wood that texture and realistic shapes with soft strokes; I also painted a kind of sphere at the tip of the staff with a tree leaf inside, with this I intended to give the idea that this is where Cassie's magical powers emanate from.
