Self-Portrait with Aurora Borealis - Imprinted by LightCaptured
The photos I made of Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights in Iceland, are precious to me.
Yes, I am not using the verb "take" here, intentionally, as one takes photos with their phone camera, while walking or having a coffee or a glass of wine with friends, you get the idea.
This photo here, as you can see from its meta-data below, is made during 15 seconds.
It is a long-exposure photograph where the camera is on a tripod.
To "freeze" myself, I ran on the road and then manually triggered a flash I was holding in my left arm. It took a few tries, I had to deal with flash power, position, angle, and Aurora isn't a constant light in the sky, it goes stronger and then it disappears.
Long story short, I am really happy and proud of that photo.

Just for the record this happened around 3:00 AM, after a day where I had to drive for about 400 km, walk a lot; on 1st of September, and the temperature was about -4 degree Celsius. Perfect late summer temperature for Iceland, I'd say! :)))
