My fellow travelers, today I want to share some of my photographs, experience and thoughts about this beautiful and impressive rock formation natural phenomenon called "Stone Wedding".

It could be found next to Zimzelen village, Kardzhali municipality in Southern Bulgaria.

It is about a two-hours drive from the nearest airport in Plovdiv, the road to there is scenery and more beautiful nature could be seen along.

There are many reasons to like this place but I have one of my own that makes sharing this place important, well, at least to me.

The rocks making that formation, are soft.

Considering there are four full seasons in Bulgaria, from burning hot summers with temperatures greater than 40 degree Celsius and winters with temperatures below -20 C, sooner, or later, probably in a few decades or so, all these formations will erode.

The Petrified Wedding (also known as the Stone Wedding) is located near the village of Zimzelen. This group contains figures up to 10 meters high, resembling people, animals and others. So at one wedding, a wind blew, blew away the veil hiding the bride's face, and all the wedding guests were petrified instantly. It is also interesting that the figures themselves are not one-color. This is due to the presence of different metal oxides.

Sorry, unless biking from Kurdzhali, I don't think there is other easy way to travel there.

I would recommend the surrounding area as a picnic place in the springs and autumns, of course, have proper backpacks and hiking boots.

The path there walks through forest and small stream, so it is a bit slippery.

Or just go there in the afternoon and wait for the sunset.
