an elderly man - study drawing
Hi friends,
I made this expressive drawing of an older man with intense facial features, a long, flowing beard and messy, unkempt hair.
The furrowed brows, deep-set eyes, and strong wrinkles give a stern, wise, and perhaps melancholic expression. His eyes are piercing, holding a deep intensity, adding to the emotional impact of the drawing.
I've started by making a drawing with a charcoal pencil.
I wanted to create a portrait that carries both wisdom and intensity. I focused on deep-set eyes, furrowed brows, and strong wrinkles to evoke a sense of experience, maybe even a bit of sorrow.
I made the background for the hair by spreading charcoal with my fingers.
Using a white pastel pencil, I drew the hair over the charcoal base while refining the details.

That is interesting drawing, the eyes are indeed drawing the attention of viewer, for me they look like they have seen a lot, very tired and full of life wisdom.
I liek the idea of using background of hair with dark colour and to draw the grey with white pastel. As always astonishing!
