WOX TRAVEL CONTEST | WEEK 18
Greetings my dear friends of Steemit and WORLD OF XPILAR
I'm nowadays thrilled by anything which existed in the city of Kolkata prior to my birth. Actually these objects or monuments take me close to my childhood, a pure nostalgia of the memories of the city.
Victoria Memorial Hall is the most iconic monument of the city. I can still remember my first visit to Victoria. We were a close group with my uncle and aunties. In those days there were many brushes of wild Cana Lily (Canna) which was common background with Victoria for couple photos. Probably my aunties also took my photo. Now those are replaced by very nice and attractive flowers. I think seasonal flowers are some of the best flowers in the city.
I have gone afterwards several times but I don't remember whether I entered the building or not.
Today I decided to visit an Exibition inside the hall. The exhibition hall was at one corner of the building in the backside. So I had to cross the entire hall. As a result of that I had the opportunity to see the museum. I took several photos of both exhibition, museum and building.
There were beautiful statues and weapons including The French Gun (Brass and Iron-18th century)
This gun was captured by Colonel Robert Clive, the military general of the British East India Company, from the French troop in alliance with the Nawab of Bengal, Siraj-Ud-Daula, in the battle of Plassey on 23 June 1757.
It was a foggy day.
Thank you for reading my post.
