Pre-New Year Vologda. Part 1

in WORLD OF XPILARyesterday

Almost every year I shoot New Year's illumination in a reportage style, which means that most of the time before the holidays I'm on this particular wave. However, this was not the case last year.

A lot of new luminous art objects were installed this year, so the archive of images needed to be updated.

It's easy to shoot the illumination with a tripod and long shutter speeds....and it's very difficult to get away with it.

In theory, you need both, but more with people, which means that the shooting will be done by hand.

Everything that is photographed by hands at night, even in street lighting, will have noise and a high probability of blur.

You can't do without serial shooting.

And I don't even know which is better: to shoot in raw or jpeg.

You can extract more details in shadows and lights from the raw, but it looks like the pictures are getting noisier.

Jpeg has excellent noise reduction while maintaining quality, but it's just useless to pull something out, especially from ISO5000 and higher.

Therefore, for jpeg, you will have to make the frame right away well.

I shot in raw out of habit, where after conversion and minor correction, I have to additionally remove the noise in the resulting jpeg image.

In general, if you look at the pictures of other news agency photographers, noise, blur, and even overexposure are allowed.

So I think I've done the job.

To be continued...
