Мы с друзьями прилетели на три дня для знакомства с Калининградом и окрестностями. С этого крепостного комплекса в Калининграде началась наша первая экскурсия 21 июня 2024 года. Две круглые кирпичные башни были возведены в 1843 году на берегу Верхнего озера. На этой фотографии башня Врангеля. Вокруг неё ров с водой.

My friends and I flew in for three days to explore Kaliningrad and its surroundings. Our first excursion began with this fortress complex in Kaliningrad on June 21, 2024. Two round brick towers were built in 1843 on the shore of Lake Verkhnee. In this photo, the Wrangel Tower. There is a moat with water around it.

А это башня Дона. Даже относительно недавно, во время второй мировой войны эти башни выполняли своё военное назначение. Хотя считалось, что для военного дела они уже утратили своё значение, их объявили памятниками архитектуры, вокруг были прогулочные тропинки, смотровые площадки, кафе.	And this is the Dona Tower. Even relatively recently, during the Second World War, these towers fulfilled their military purpose. Although it was believed that they had already lost their significance for military affairs, they were declared architectural monuments, there were walking paths, observation platforms, and cafes around them.
Во время штурма Кенигсберга в апреле 1945 г. башня «Дона» была одним из опорных пунктов и последним очагом обороны города. Блокированный советскими войсками гарнизон башни отказался сдаться в плен. Башни были выстроены из особенного многократно обожженного кирпича. Это придало ему такую прочность, что стены не смогли пробить прямые артиллерийские выстрелы. Только после подписания комендантом города акта о капитуляции Кенигсберга бастион сдался.	During the storming of Koenigsberg in April 1945, the Dona Tower was one of the strongholds and the last center of defense of the city. The garrison of the tower, blocked by Soviet troops, refused to surrender. The towers were built from a special repeatedly fired brick. This gave it such strength that the walls could not be penetrated by direct artillery shots. Only after the city commandant signed the act of capitulation of Königsberg did the bastion surrender.
В наше время башни отреставрировали. Сейчас здесь находится музей янтаря.	Nowadays, the towers have been restored. Now there is an amber museum here.

Это Росгартенские ворота. Это одни из восьми сохранившихся городских ворот Калининграда. Красивые кирпичные ворота с башенками и зубцами были построены на месте предыдущих в 1852—1855 годах.

This is the Rossgarten Gate. This is one of the eight surviving city gates of Kaliningrad. Beautiful brick gates with turrets and battlements were built on the site of the previous ones in 1852-1855.
