Transcending Borders 🇹🇷🇨🇦

in WORLD OF XPILAR26 days ago (edited)

Hi Everyone 🤗

Following my last post, I naturally want to continue by answering the most frequently asked questions 🙂 How did I decide to live abroad? Why did I move to Canada? What am I doing here?

First of all, I have always wanted to live in different countries for a while and experience different cultures and lifestyles. I agree with this quote from Samed Behrangi's book The Little Black Fish, which impressed me very much,

"I'd like to know if life really means swimming in a little place, going back and forth until you are old, or if there is some other way you can live in the world. I want to go see where the stream ends. I want to know what's happening in other places."

As many of you know, my first extended stay abroad was in the Czech Republic. During one year in Prague, I immersed myself in a wealth of new experiences, from diverse cultures and perspectives to fresh ideas, architecture, cuisine, and lifestyles. This transformative period invigorated me, offering countless benefits and leaving me eager for more.

Now, let's delve into another reason for my decision to move to a different country. There are some issues in Türkiye that I am unhappy with. I could write many things about it but I prefer to cover them in a few items as they are topics that make me sad and tiring.

Unfortunately, politicians in Türkiye don't do their job well and the people suffer from this. Türkiye has experienced economic fluctuations such as high inflation rates, currency devaluation and financial instability due to wrong government policies.

Nepotism and favoritism in hiring completely undermines fair competition and creates an unequal environment.

It is a very dangerous situation to give preferential treatment to acquaintances in employment decisions, regardless of their qualifications or suitability for the job, in recruitment decisions and promotions in the public and private sectors.

Why, because having unqualified people in power is a situation that hinders the development of the country. Moreover, this situation demotivates qualified people and damages their hope.

Unfortunately, business life also has its drawbacks, such as long working hours and low salaries. In academia, very limited project budgets prevent competition in the global scientific community.

On the one hand, the increasing centralization of power and the weakening of checks and balances are troubling developments incompatible with democratic governance.

Restrictions on media freedom and the jailing of journalists or dissentients cause significant threats to democracy and human rights. Additionally, issues such as corruption, damaged judicial independence, and the refugee crisis increase these concerns.

Due to these issues and more, I felt a strong desire for change in the country's administration. Concerned about election corruption, I took on the responsibility of serving as an election observer.

After receiving training and quickly learning many legal aspects of the electoral process, I hoped for positive change. Unfortunately, the election I observed did not result in any significant change, which was somewhat disappointing. Nonetheless, I continued with my own scientific studies.

I received an invitation to a conference in Canada and applied for a visa. During this process, I took the opportunity to learn more about the country. Friends living in Canada have always praised this country to me, and their positive remarks influenced my positive view of the country.

Moreover, several aspects of Canada appeared particularly attractive to me, including natural beauty, career opportunities, quality of life, educational advancement, work-life balance, and political and economic stability. Additionally, Canada's favorable immigration policies for skilled workers further enhanced its appeal.

I stayed with my friend for a while, during which I observed and appreciated the environment. During this period, my work permit application was approved. I am currently in the process of attending job interviews and exploring new opportunities 🤗

So, that's how my journey to moving to Canada happened. I'm thrilled to see what the future holds in this amazing country 🇨🇦

I hope you all enjoyed reading my post ✨
Thank you 🌲

Interesting, I also find the problems you talk about in your own country very close. In Bulgaria, however, they are somehow veiled in the veil of the European Union. We live in the self-delusion that we are part of the EU, at the same time nothing that happens here corresponds to life and standards in the EU. I am also currently having difficulty finding a job because I lack the necessary connections, which I never thought would happen to me in my own country. Considering the level of competence of people appointed with connections everywhere, as you yourself say.

I admire your enthusiasm and courage to first try to change the unchangeable, then to undertake such a journey. I wish you again a lot of success and luck in this endeavor! Yet you have them, because the energy you carry within you sweeps everything around and changes things ❣️

I think you write very well. Have you searched any job related to writing? Apart, obviously, from posting here.

Actually not. I never thought about that. And because I've read stuff from people who "work" it, I don't think I'm good enough. Btw, a few months ago I even tried another tactic - to see if it would work if I tried to do something that I myself could see I was not good at. 🤭 (Sometimes things in life are super messed up and illogical and that's why.) Well, no, that didn't work either. I have already exhausted all possible options and hopes as well. But thanks for the suggestion.

You're very welcome. Don't give up following your ideas and visions!

I understand how frustrating that can be🙄 It's tough when things don't work out despite our best efforts. Sometimes life really is unpredictable. Don’t be too hard on yourself, trying different things takes courage. You started to do it👍 Have you considered exploring a new hobby or skill that interests you? Sometimes stepping outside our comfort zone can open up unexpected opportunities. I hope something positive comes your way soon.

I try to keep my mind open so that I don't miss any opportunity if it ever comes up, without immediately dismissing it as impossible. I really hope something comes up. Well, still, in a warmer country than the one you chose, my body can't stand the cold. 😅
Thank you very much! 😊

Thank you so much for your heartfelt message 😊 I deeply appreciate your understanding and empathy. It's tough to see these issues everywhere, even within the EU, where we hope for higher standards 🤷🏻‍♀️ It's a demoralising reality that competence takes a backseat to nepotism, which undermines the potential and talents of many deserving individuals like you😞

Your admiration and encouragement mean a lot to me 💕 Keep believing in yourself and your abilities. I hope good opportunities will come your way. Wishing you lots of success and luck too 🌸

I can relate to most of the problems you shared about Turkey. We have somewhat similar political and socio-economic issues in Pakistan. It breaks my heart to see no improvement (only deterioration) with every passing year.

Anyhoo, congratulations on the approval of your work permit. I'm sure you'll get a suitable job soon.

Thank you so much for your kind words and support❤️ It's tough to see similar challenges in both Türkiye and Pakistan. I share your disappointment about the lack of improvement, but maybe sharing our experiences helps us stay strong. Your encouragement means a lot. Stay hopeful, wishing you all the best😊

Good on you for moving around, more people should do this instead of staying in the same place for life.

Thanks a lot🌸 I figured if I can’t change the world, at least I can change my scenery😝

Hi beautiful, I've been following you recently and lucky you to have followed back. I will look forward to wonderful posts from your journey. Nice to make your acquaintance. 🫰🫡🤝

Thank you 🌸

I love how fascinating your experience was when you moved to Canada. I wish I could get the same invitation. All the best in your endeavors.

Thank you 😊 If an opportunity like this ever comes your way, I hope it brings you as much excitement and fulfillment as it has for me. Best wishes to you in all your efforts as well🌺

My sister managed to get an invitation to Canada. She left with her whole family. I can't wait to hear of her experience, though I doubt she will ever come back. We weren't in good terms when she left. I do wish her all the best as well, maybe life just had to take a different turn.
