The Little Mermaid Statue 🧜♀️ Copenhagen #club100
I will tell you about my visit to The Little Mermaid statue, one of the symbols of Copenhagen. During my trip to Copenhagen, I especially wanted to visit this statue because a friend from Copenhagen sent me my first postcard I received from abroad and it had The Little Mermaid statue on it. I said that I would definitely like to visit this statue one day and I was able to visit it one year later 🤗
This statue is inspired by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen's famous fairy tale in 1837. In this fairy tale, Andersen tells of a mermaid who gives up everything to meet a handsome prince living on land. Andersen is an author whose stories I loved to listen to when I was little 😊 His stories have greatly contributed to my imagination ❤️ Especially his fairy tales that impressed me the most are The Ugly Duckling and Thumbelina. There was a moving statue of Andersen in Copenhagen. As soon as I saw him, I sat next to him and felt the joy of sitting next to the author of my childhood fairy tales 🥰
So how did the idea for this sculpture come about? The story of creating The Little Mermaid statue is also very interesting. You know the famous Danish beer Carlsberg. Carl Jacobsen, son of Carlsberg's founder, went to see a fairy tale ballet at the Royal Danish Theatre in 1909 and was impressed by the character in that fairy tale.
And he decided to have this bronze statue made. The statue was built in 1913. He wanted ballerina Ellen Price, who played The Little Mermaid, to model the statue. The ballerina accepted the offer, but she refused to be modeled nude. The body of the sculptor Edvard Eriksen's wife, Eline Eriksen, was made as a model for the body of the statue.
I'll give you a surprising information, The Little Mermaid is a replica 😳 I did not know this information when I visited it. When I researched why it is a copy, I learned that the heirs of the sculptor kept the original of the statue in an unknown place 🙄
It is a fact accepted by everyone that this statue, which has an impressive story, is a famous replica. If you visit Copenhagen, I recommend you to see this statue as well 🧜♀️
Thank you 🤗
I used to read his books growing up

Heykelin replika olduğunu öğrenmem şoku 🤣 Gözümde canlandı koskoca mazi🥲
Aynen bu bilgi gerçek bir şok 😅 Old but gold days 🥲
You may have broken the viewing record😄 Such fascinating fairy tales can be read and watched over and over again. I admire the inspirational power of art, as well 👌
Yes, it's true, he is the author of most of us childhood fairy tales. The fate of the actual statue is truly a mystery. I think the original one should have been kept in its original place. This should have been done out of respect for both the sculptor and the statue's story. You said two mermaids and your nice compliment is lovely 😊 You made my day 🥰 Thank you so much 🌺
beautiful photos of beautiful city and country & also a really nice story. one of the most iconic status that i would love to visit , knowing that it's a replica that's a real surprise , and i really wonder where the original one might be & if there is any body alive knows the secret place.
The whereabouts of the truly original statue is a suspenseful mystery. Nice to know that you liked the photos and the story. Thanks for your kind words 😊

Böyle düşünmenize çok sevindim, teşekkür ederim 🤗🌸
Beautiful pictures, I have never seen this statue in reality but of course seen and like it, people who saw it all say that the statue is smaller than they expected :)
Yes absolutely right 😀 Maybe the fame of this statue leads to an expectation until we see it, so when we see it, it looks small to our eyes 😅
