Promoting Steemit: Review Steemit for Sourceforge's "Best Decentralized Social Media" Rankings!
Greetings everyone!
Taking a somewhat different approach today... with something we can all do to help generate awareness of Steemit in the greater world.
Open-Source Software giant Sourceforge is assembling a listing of "Best Decentralized Social Media Networks" for 2022, and Steemit could desperately use our help... because we are trailing Hive and upstart Blurt by a so-called "country mile."
How You Can Help
We need to get some current reviews of Steemit on the board over there; in particular not only mentioning that Steemit is alive and well... but also mentioning that we are growing an active community with real decentralized witnesses in a "Post Justin Sun" era... a large part of the world still associates Steemit with the chaos of early 2020, and that can be set right with a few people talking about Steemit as it works now.
To create a review, you do NOT have to be a Sourceforge member; however, you will have to provide an email address you have access to, in order to "confirm" that you were a real person writing the review. The only identifying information that will appear with your review is your first name and last initial.
When you're ready, write your Steemit review here pretty much just sharing your own words and experiences.
There are only THREE reviews for Steemit vs 80+ for Hive and almost 40 for Blurt. Surely, we can do better?
Should one of the primary witnesses (hint: @steemchiller) feel inclined to do so, there's also a possibility of "Claiming" the Steemit page which would allow someone in an official capacity on Steemit to edit what the description and representative images of our page there look like. Doing so does require a Sourceforge membership.
Please Help Spread the Word!
I don't have the reach to get to a lot of people, so I am hoping for a bit of support for this from community leaders like @xpilar, @stef1, @kiwiscanfly, @the-gorilla, @stephenkendal and the #promo-steem crew who have far broader community reach than I... and maybe @steemitblog and @steemcurator01, as well... you guys can mobilize 100's of people, I cannot.
And that's about it. I have submitted my review, and it is currently "under moderation" before being published. I hope you'll create your own review!
Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!
How about YOU? Are you going to write a review? Or have you already done so? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

Good man, thanks for sharing this 👍 @offgridlife suggested that I create a contest and once I have a spare few minutes, I'll do that (and create a suitably large prize).
Great, I can support with prizes
Thank you @xpilar, that would be awesome!
👍 I'll ping you a message tomorrow and we can discuss some ideas 🙂
Excellent! A contest would be great, and incentive for people to actually do it, and not just talk about it. Maybe it might even be possible to get small @steemcurator01 votes (maybe 2%? That's still about $3.00) as incentives for anyone who posts a "proof of review."
Yes, it's basically bribery, but this place needs a shot in the arm!
Ha ha - it totally is. There's the inevitable consequence that the haters on Hive will "contribute" too and turn Sourceforge into another kindergarten playground!
Sadly, that is almost inevitable. The "Blurt Kids" and the "Hive Kids" have already exchanged shots. Why they can't just stick to pointing out the BENEFITS of their own, rather than shooting down others... beats me.
It's very much the way of the world it would seem.
I submitted my review…
Excellent! Whatever anyone might think, Steemit at least deserves to have some current voices in the review list.
It sure does. I realize now that all the most evil Downvoters moved to Hive.
I too will submit my review soon. Thanks for the heads up.
Very cool! Thanks for supporting the initiative!
You don't have to thank me sir, this is an initiative that should be seen as a mandatory thing everybody has to do.

Let's all troop in there to submit our reviews... We don't need a contest to achieve that... Bonafide Steemians will do this asap
I have made a review @debmarjguy
I have submitted my review
A very beautiful way to promote steemit. To me, it's just so interesting and i am going all the way to do just that.😊👍
