Peaceful Moments Between Christmas and New Year's
The brief period between Christmas and the New Year has long been about as close to an actual holiday as I get in my life.
It is the on time every year when I aspire to little more than just dabbling in my work, doing a bit of organizing in preparation for the new year and maybe making a few very loosely knit plans.
Since I generally don't regard writing as work, I also spend a fair bit of time writing and determining what partially finished work is worth keeping, and what should not be allowed to take up space, anymore.
Today, I also spent some time taking inventory of my artwork, making sure I don't have anything listed for sale online that's missing from our stock bins. It's a sad reality of our day and age that we sometimes have to deal with theft at some of the shows where we participate as sellers.
On the whole, though, there's not anything I'm going to be starting, and particularly not with a weekend ahead and New Year's Day being on Wednesday, the middle of the week.
One of the "luxuries" I also like to enjoy at this time of the year is to sit peacefully in our living room, reading a book. An actual, old fashioned paper book. I have heard it said that prolific writers are mostly also voracious readers, and that definitely holds true tor me.
One of my Christmas presents was the latest book in David Michie's popular "The Dalai Lama's Cat" series, which I am really looking forward to!
I mostly read non-fiction typically, so this is a bit of a departure from my usual fare...
Of course, our cats really appreciate it when I sit and read, especially when we have a fire in the fireplace... cats are the ultimate relaxation companions!
We will likely follow our old tradition of getting Chinese take-out for New Year's Eve... and since we like our peace and quiet, we will forego any of the big parties around town... and just peacefully greet 2025 at home.
So far, I really haven't set any goals for the new year, although I do have an assortment of thoughts bouncing around in my head. For now, though, nothing has been written down...
Maybe one of my 2025 goals should be to stop trying to write blog posts at 1:30 in the morning!
And since it is rather late, I think I should head to bed!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Friday!

It sounds like my time of the year: books, cat, fire and films and far away from the hectic.
All the best for 2025

It has been a lovely couple of relaxing and calm days... I have always been very fond of living slowly although that's not really the style here in USA.
