Fast foods are referred to as a foods or snacks that can be taken on the go, these type of food as the name implies don’t take time to be prepared, seeing as some are already prepared and others take little to no time at all to be ready for consumption and it can be eaten absolutely anywhere.

We have various fast foods restaurant situated in so many places in lagos, Nigeria.

In this article you'll get to know about the examples of these food and the hazard or dangers associated with them.

Some Examples of these foods are as follows:

Hamburgers:

An hamburger is a food consisting of a filling usually a patty of ground beef eaten with a sliced bun.

Health hazard: hamburgers are high in sodium, a high sodium diet can lead to high blood pressure and an high risk for heart disease, stroke, and other kidney diseases .

Most people fail to recognise and see the hazards of what they ingest because of how tasty and yummy it is and this as overtime caused a lot of our illness unknown to many.

Hot dog:

Hotdog consists of steamed sausage in the middle of a partially sliced bun usually garnished with mustard or ketchup.

It is linked to several health problems like type2 diabetes, cancer, and cardio vascular disorders.

Canned baked beans:

Baked beans are beans already prepared and stored in tins, baked beans contains a lot of preservatives and these chemicals used in preservation when taken in large quantities and continually, it may cause problems in our bodies, according to it is said that baked beans are high in proteins and fiber, they may Improve gut health and cholesterol level, canned varieties are convenient but often contain added sugar, salt, additives, and BPA contaminant so your healthiest option is to make them from scratch using dried beans.

Canned goods that weren’t made or processed properly may contain clostridium botulinum and this can cause botulism, a serious illnesss that can cause or lead to paralysis and death if left untreated.

French fries:

French fries are made out of potatoes, dried and deep-fried till it’s crispy and it is most times eaten with different dips.

French fries prepared with oil are usually very high with saturated fats, saturated fats inturn can increase your cholesterol levels which causes heart disease and can potentially lead to stroke.

There are so many other fast foods like:

Pizza

Shawarma

Chicken and chips

Meatballs

Jollof rice

Fried rice and so many other continental dishes are also available in many fast food restaurant and they all have their own hazards or disadvantages.

Fast-food are also part of the reasons why we have a lot of obese cases in our world, I think the world would be a better place if we all stick to an healthy and nutritious diet, this way we would be able to curb the spread of different illness because most times these food are prepared in an environment that are not human friendly and these conditions breed illness and disease, let’s not dispute the fact that we have some standard fast-food restaurant but sometimes these people add stuffs like preservatives to the food to make it last longer who knows one could be allergic to such things.

So I feel homemade meal are better off than fast foods it’s better to eat what you know than eat what you know nothing of the contents, there is a popular saying that homemade meals sits better in the stomach.

So let’s eat less fast food and more homemade meals. Shall we?
