The Caspian Monster

I decided to enter the contest The World of XPILAR - LANDSCAPE/SEASCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #151 - 14STEEM in prizes! by @axeman.

Friends, I always try to show you various unusual landscapes. This time I flew to Dagestan, to the very south of Russia, specifically for such a case. My trip was made on 2 planes. At first I flew to Moscow, where I moved from Domodedovo Airport to Vnukovo, boarded another plane and flew to Dagestan. Moscow did not want to take our plane because of poor visibility and icy rain, we did an additional few circles in the air. Makhachkala also met us with thick fog and did not allow us to land for almost an hour. But in the end, everything turned out well. We were met by a friendly team of guides, we were put in 2 minibuses and we drove towards Derbent. But on the way we were taken to some field where absolutely nothing could be seen because of the fog. We just didn't understand where we were taken. But the fog began to disappear and he appeared - the Caspian Monster. That's what the guys called him.
Perhaps you thought it was an airplane? No, you're wrong.

Друзья, я стараюсь показать вам какие-то не совсем обычные пейзажи. На этот раз я специально ради такого дела следал в Дагестан. Моё путешествие было совершено на 2 самолетах. Сначала я летел до Москвы, там я переехал с аэропорта Домодедово во Внуково, сел на другой самолет и прилетел в Дагестан. Москва не хотела принимать наш самолет из-за плохой видимости и ледяного дождя, мы делали дополнительных несколько кругов в воздухе. Махачкала нас тоже встретила густым туманом и не разрешала нам приземляться почти что час. Но в итоге всё получилось хорошо. Нас встретила приветливая команда гидов, нас посадили в 2 микроавтобуса и мы поезали в сторону Дербента. Но по пути нас завезли в какое-то поле, где абсолютно ничего не было видно из-за тумана. Мы просто не понимали куда нас привезли. Но туман стал исчезать и появился он - Каспийский Монстр. Так его называли парни.
Наверное, вы подумали, что это самолет? Нет, вы ошибаетесь.


This, guys, is not an airplane, but the legendary rocket ekranoplane "Lun". He is a kind of hybrid of an airplane and a sea vessel. This low-flying device above the water surface was developed in the 60-70-ies of the last century. Construction began in the early 80s. It was also called the "Aircraft Carrier Killer".
Only 1 instance of such a monster was built. The second airplane-ship was not completed due to financial problems in the USSR in the mid-80s.
The length of the hull is 73 meters, the height is 19 meters, the wingspan is 44 meters.
The speed is impressive - about 500 km/h. This is the fastest ship.
After the tests, the combat capabilities and expediency turned out to be questionable. There was no money for production and they decided to stop this project.
By the way, this copy is called the "Rescuer", the very second unfinished ekranoplane. The first copy of the "Lun" was either disposed of, or disappeared somewhere after being written off. I searched the Internet and found such information.

Это, ребята, не самолет, а легендарный ракетный экраноплан «Лунь». Он является неким гибридом самолета и морского судна. Этот низкопарящий над водной поверхностью аппарат разрабатывался в 60-70-х годах прошлого века. Строительство началось в начале 80-х годов. Он еще носил название "Убийца авианосцев".
Был построен всего 1 экземпляр такого монстра. Второй корабль-самолет не был достроен из-за финансовых проблем в СССР в середине 80-годов.
Длина корпуса 73 метра, высота - 19 метров, размах крьев 44 метра.
Скорость впечатляем - около 500 км/ч. Это самый быстрый корабль.
После испытаний боевые возможности и целесообразность оказалась сомнительными. Денег на производство не было и этот проект решили прекратить.
Кстати, этот экземпляр называется "Спасатель", тот самый второй недостроенный экраноплан. Первый экземпляр "Лунь" то ли был утилизирован, то ли куда-от исчез после списания. Я порылся в Интернете и выявил такую информацию.

The fog came in waves and moved away just as quickly. Then the fog appeared again. This Caspian Sea is the largest lake on Earth. And next to it is the largest ekranoplan. At this place there will be a military-patriotic park "Patriot", an analogue of the park in Kubinka. But so far, except for this one instance, there is nothing among the sand. The announcement of the construction was a year ago.

Эти "муравьи" постоянно попадали в поле зрения моего фотоаппарата. Я ушел к морю, которое находилось метрах в 200 от этого монстра и тогда все потянулись к морю. Первое фото как раз сделано со стороны моря.
Туман наплывал волнами и так же быстро удалялся. Потом снова туман появлялся. Это Каспийское море - самое большое озеро на Земле. И рядом с ним стоит самый большой экраноплан. На этом месте будет военно-патриотический парк "Патриот", аналог парка в Кубинке. Но пока кроме одного этого экземпляра среди песка ничего нет. Анонсирование стройки было год назад.
