Il limone è un albero da frutto appartenente alla famiglia delle Rutaceae, originario dell'Asia meridionale e coltivato oggi in tutto il mondo, soprattutto nelle regioni a clima temperato e subtropicale. Il limone è apprezzato per i suoi frutti profumati e ricchi di succo, utilizzati in cucina, in campo medico e cosmetico.

L'albero di limone ha un portamento che varia da cespuglioso a eretto e può raggiungere un'altezza di 3-6 metri. Il tronco è corto e ramificato, con rami spesso spinosi. Le foglie sono sempreverdi, di forma ovale, di un verde brillante e con un caratteristico aroma agrumato quando strofinate. Le infiorescenze sono composte da fiori bianchi, dal profumo dolce e intenso, e possono apparire più volte durante l'anno.
