If you would like to come and visit Sri Lanka and enjoy Galle Fort as a destination I personally recomand you to stay a t a Hotel In Hikkaduwa which is 18km away from Galle (On Colombo Galle road). It's only 30min away from Galle. I recommend you to stay there because there are lot of Hotels,& Restaurants that you a can stay comfortably. There are Luxury hotels ( price = 250~500USD per night) and also Cheap hotels ( price = 30~150USD per night)for your choices.
There are lot of Restaurants that you can enjoy your meal inside the Galle Fort. I have enjoyed food from "The Pasta Factory", "Deco on 44" in light house stree Galle fortt, "Aqua Forte" in Leyn Baan Street Galle Fort. They are quality and delicious food there. But I think you can find a better place for full your belly when you come to visit here because there are not only local foods, but also Western foods like Italian, French foods in hundred of restaurants.
Finally I would like to say you may have to pay for entrance tickets to museums. But the whole visit inside the fort is free. So you can spend your money only on shopping and foods there.
So I hope you all get some idea about travelling Galle fort, Sri Lanka. I would like to invite you all to come and enjoy here when this pandemic get controlled.

This is true. But recently they introduce a vehicle parking ticket. I don't know the current status ..
I too heard that news. But I went there few times and no one charge parking for my bike or car. I'll check it again and let you know
