Honestly, I’m the kind of person who finds it hard to write comments. I’ve always thought that if I don’t have anything specific to say that adds value to the discussion with the author of a post, I simply don’t write anything and just leave my vote. When I created my account about two months ago, I tried to engage with different users, even if my comment didn’t add anything substantial and only expressed that I liked the author’s work. I wanted to write something nice so the author would know they were doing a good job.

The problem was that I didn’t receive any response to those comments. And okay, I get it — maybe someone doesn’t feel like replying with “thanks, I appreciate it” every time. But I didn’t even get a vote from those people, so I don’t even know if they read what I wrote. Each day, this discouraged me more and more from writing comments, and now I’ve settled on this: if something really amazes or intrigues me, or if I have a question, I’ll write a comment. Otherwise, I’ll just leave my vote.

And I’d like it to be the same with my posts. If you have something to write, share it. But if you don’t, don’t force yourself to come up with anything.
