I WANTED TO BE A SAILOR AND TRAVEL THE WORLD

I wanted to be a sailor and travel the world
with my hands open to the course of the coastal birds
my mouth aching at the sight of the journeys
I would carry in my luggage the sleepy song of the winds
and the endless wait of the land frightened by the waters
I leaned over to the other side of the mirror
where the body becomes airy even to the bones
the night returned to me another body floating
at the abandonment of a secret return... then
I kept the passion of distant days in the canvas bag
and from the nostalgic depths of the mirror
came the sudden eyes of the sea
shells grew on my eyelids, fine seaweeds
jellyfish swam within reach of speech
and my chest was the vast shoreline
where the legends and chronicles had forgotten
enigmatic skeletons, insects, and precious metals
a thread of semen tied the heart ravaged by the brine
the body separated from the ancient shadow
it froze in the old sleep of the earth
descending into the oblivion of everything... sailing
in the murmur of the oxidized waters, I clung to the root of the swords
moving from mast to mast, probing the insomnia
opening acidic lights on the uncertain face of some sea
