Actually... my answer may be not of a help / use for you, not at all: it is a flexible film with matte mirroring surface, ready-made - I did not added anything to my editing. Last year I found a big plazma TV being moved to a local damp, it was broken, and the screen had a few such films. I enjoyed how it looks like and stole one, considering it can serve as a good background. That is all.
Yeah, recycling is a good word and a good thing. If you will see a big broken plazma TV brought to a dump, dont pass by -- better try to scavenge it. At least, it has some stuff that benefits to subject photography :D

That was smart of you. If it was moved to a damp there's no stealing. You gave that film a new chance. Recycling :)
