A different August 15th - Un Ferragosto diverso [ENG-ITA]

Hello everyone and Happy Ferragosto!

This year we are experiencing an anomalous summer and the news that has been arriving in recent days is not at all positive.

Covid has reappeared with strength and, to be honest, nothing else could be expected.

It’s clear that all of us here in Italy, having respected the months of lockdown with good discipline, wanted to spend the summer going on vacation, getting out of our "prisons" and relaxing for a while by the sea. Nothing strange so far.

But it’s known that sometimes it is not easy to stay within a safety limit that can be crossed with a certain ease.

And so from the possibility of being a little more free, we have passed to imprudence and recklessness.

Despite all the appeals, reports and warnings relating to travel from Italy to abroad, many of my compatriots have decided to totally ignore them and travel outside their country.

The result was catastrophic, with countless cases of tourists who, upon returning from vacation, turned out to be positive in the tests executed with the swab.

I honestly cannot understand why this possibility was not prohibited a priori by the authorities, when we knew very well that even inter-regional movements within the Italian territory could have led to peaks of infections.
Let alone those who go abroad, go to airports, crowded places and maybe don't even protect themselves as it should be done.

Here in Acciaroli, where I am currently on vacation, precautionary measures have therefore been taken to try to avoid negative consequences.

After 9pm, for example, access to the beaches was forbidden to anyone, to avoid crowds around the traditional bonfires.

And even on the streets of the town, especially in the evening, when there is more crowding and it’s not always possible to keep a safe distance, it is mandatory to use a mask even outside.

On the beach, there is more attention to the distance between one nucleus and another, but not all of them are so loyal and I have not seen many checks.

All the festivals planned here and in the neighboring villages have been canceled, as well as all the events that included a public audience not distanced enough.

It is therefore a different mid-August, in which we are here with straight antennas, trying to do our best to keep ourselves safe.

With the hope of not falling back into the nightmare...

Buongiorno a tutti e Buon Ferragosto!

Quest’anno stiamo vivendo un’estate anomala e le notizie che stanno arrivando in questi ultimi giorni non sono per niente positive.

Il Covid si è ripresentato con prepotenza e, ad essere sinceri, non ci si poteva aspettare altro.

È chiaro che tutti noi qui in Italia, avendo rispettato con buona disciplina i mesi di lockdown, avevamo voglia di trascorrere l’estate andando in vacanza, uscendo dalle nostre “prigioni” e rilassandoci per un po’ al mare. Fin qui nulla di strano.

Ma si sa che a volte non è semplice rimanere all’interno di un limite di sicurezza che risulta essere valicabile con una certa facilità.

E così dalla possibilità di essere un po’ più liberi, si è passati all’imprudenza e all’incoscienza.

Malgrado tutto gli appelli, le segnalazioni e gli avvisi relativi agli spostamenti dall’Italia verso l’estero, tanti miei connazionali hanno deciso di ignorare totalmente il warning e di viaggiare al di fuori della loro nazione.

Il risultato è stato catastrofico, con innumerevoli casi di turisti che al rientro dalle vacanze, risultano essere positivi al test eseguiti con il tampone.

Non riesco sinceramente a capire perché tale possibilità non sia stata vietata a priori dalle autorità, quando sapevamo benissimo che anche gli spostamenti interregionali all’interno del territorio italiano, avrebbero potuto portare picchi di contagi.
Figuriamoci chi va all’estero, frequenta aeroporti, luoghi affollati e magari non si protegge neanche come dovrebbe essere fatto.

Qui ad Acciaroli, dove sono attualmente in vacanza, sono scattate quindi delle misure precauzionali per cercare di evitare conseguenze negative.
Dopo le 21, per esempio, è stato vietato a chiunque l’accesso alle spiagge, per evitare assembramenti intorno ai tradizionali falò.

E anche per le strade del paese, soprattutto di sera, quando c’è più affollamento e non è sempre possibile mantenere la distanza di sicurezza, è obbligatorio l’uso della mascherina anche all’esterno.

In spiaggia c’è maggiore attenzione per la distanza tra un nucleo e l’altro, ma non tutti sono così ligi e non ho visto molti controlli.

Tutte le sagre previste qui e nei paesini limitrofi sono state annullate, come anche tutti gli eventi che prevedevano una platea pubblica non distanziata.

È quindi un Ferragosto diverso, nel quale siamo qui con le antenne dritte, provando a fare del nostro meglio per mantenerci al sicuro.

Con la speranza di non ripiombare nell’incubo...
