Actually there are some bottled non alcoholic items one can buy that use cork as stopper. One of them is vinegar and another is soy sauce. But they have become scarcer now and rarely seen. So the most common source of cork now is wine bottles. But I also agree that having a stockpile of cork is not 100% direct evidence that he drinks the wine personally.
