oggi vi porto con me indietro nel tempo per raccontarvi la terza tappa del viaggio On The Road in Spagna che come anticipato nel precedente articolo ci porterà a Zaragoza.

Scavare Nella Memoria

Raccontandovi di questo mio viaggio avvenuto ormai molti anni fa, mi sono accorto che i ricordi legati ad alcune tappe sono ormai indelebili ed è come se fossero avvenuti poco tempo fa, mentre per altri faccio un po' più fatica.
Saragozza è una di quelle tappe per cui devo fare uno sforzo mentale maggiore, ma grazie alle foto, posso comunque riesumare qualche ricordo sperduto nei meandri della mia mente a far compagnia ai neuroni andati in pensione anticipata.

Le Statali Spagnole

Se c'è una cosa che invece ricordo bene sono le statali spagnole, lunghissime strade che tagliano in due le immense piane iberiche e disseminati qua e la, i cartelloni raffiguranti uno dei simboli di questo paese: I tori.
In realtà inizialmente questi tori giganti erano cartelloni pubblicitari di una marca di Cherry che sono stati in seguito dipinti di nero per non distrarre chi è alla guida di un veicolo.

Zaragoza

Zaragoza è situata nel nord-est della Spagna, nella regione dell'Aragona. Con una storia che risale all'epoca romana, la città è ricca di tesori culturali e architettonici. Zaragoza è famosa per la sua imponente Basilica del Pilar, uno dei principali luoghi di pellegrinaggio in Spagna, e per il maestoso Palazzo dell'Aljafería, un antico palazzo moresco. La città vanta anche una vivace vita notturna, con numerosi bar, ristoranti e locali che offrono una varietà di piatti tradizionali aragonesi. Con la sua combinazione di storia, cultura e gastronomia, Zaragoza è una destinazione che merita di essere esplorata.

E' ormai quasi sera quando entriamo finalmente nella città di Saragozza, decidiamo quindi per questa volta di di cercare un albergo anzichè un campeggio per montare la tenda, in quanto sarebbe stato alquanto scomodo fare tutto al buio.
Puntiamo su un albergo proposto dalla guida Lonely Planet, sistemiamo i nostri bagagli ed usciamo per mettere qualcosa sotto i denti e per una visita serale della città.

La mattinata successiva è dedicata alla vera visita della città e dei suoi monumenti principali, qui, essendo Saragozza meta di pellegrinaggio, il turismo è principalmente di tipo religioso e lo si capisce anche dalle bancarelle di souvenire che espongono santini di ogni tipo. Non mancano però altre attrattive e tutto sommato la visita del capoluogo dell'Aragona, se è vero che non ha lasciato in me ricordi nitidi, ha lasciato comunque quella sensazione di piacere.

E' ora di pranzo, entriamo in un supermeracto e compriamo del pan, queso y jamòn per assemblare i panozzi che mangeremo per strada lungo il cammino verso la prossima tappa.

Today I take you back in time to tell you about the third stage of the On The Road journey in Spain, which, as mentioned in the previous article, will take us to Zaragoza.

Delving Into Memory

As I recount this trip of mine that happened many years ago, I realize that the memories associated with some stages are now indelible, as if they happened just recently, while for others, I struggle a bit more. Zaragoza is one of those stages for which I have to make a greater mental effort, but thanks to the photos, I can still resurrect some lost memories in the depths of my mind, keeping company with the neurons that have retired early.

Spanish Highways

One thing I remember well, though, are the Spanish highways, long roads that cut through the immense Iberian plains, with billboards scattered here and there depicting one of the symbols of this country: the bulls. Actually, initially these giant bulls were advertising billboards for a brand of cherries, but they were later painted black so as not to distract those who are driving.

Zaragoza

Zaragoza is located in the northeast of Spain, in the region of Aragon. With a history dating back to Roman times, the city is rich in cultural and architectural treasures. Zaragoza is famous for its imposing Basilica del Pilar, one of the main pilgrimage sites in Spain, and for the majestic Aljafería Palace, an ancient Moorish palace. The city also boasts a vibrant nightlife, with numerous bars, restaurants, and venues offering a variety of traditional Aragonese dishes. With its combination of history, culture, and gastronomy, Zaragoza is a destination worth exploring.

It's almost evening when we finally enter the city of Zaragoza, so this time we decide to look for a hotel instead of a campsite to set up the tent, as it would be quite inconvenient to do everything in the dark. We opt for a hotel recommended by the Lonely Planet guide, settle our belongings, and head out to grab a bite to eat and explore the city at night.

The next morning is dedicated to the proper visit of the city and its main monuments. Here, as Zaragoza is a pilgrimage destination, tourism is mainly of a religious nature, which can also be seen from the souvenir stalls displaying various types of holy cards. However, there are other attractions as well, and all in all, the visit to the capital of Aragon, while it may not have left vivid memories in me, still left a sense of pleasure.

It's now lunchtime, we enter a supermarket and buy some bread, cheese, and ham to assemble sandwiches that we'll eat on the road along the way to the next stage.
