riprendiamo la "saga" del viaggio on the raod in Spagna, raccontandovi della seconda tappa di questo itinerario lungo las carreteras spagnole.

Tappa 01
Bye Bye Andorra
Quando si dorme in tenda spesso non servono sveglie perchè saranno i primi raggi del sole mattutino a darti il segnale che è ora di alzarsi per affrontare una nuova avventura.
Dopo aver smontato tutto e riorganizzato il portabagagli (avete presente il tetris?) siamo finalmente pronti a lasciare il camping e lo stato di Andorra: Oggi entreremo finalmente in territorio spagnolo.
Momento nostalgia: mentre siamo ancora ad Andorra, ci fermiamo al primo distributore per fare il pieno di gasolio e alla faccia delle accise italiane... 0,54 €/l, poco più di 20€ per un pieno. Questo piccolo paese sperduto tra i Pirenei lo ricorderemo solo per questo.
Lleida (Lerida) ovvero La liberta di Cambiare
La tappa che descriverò oggi in realtà non era in programma ma trovandoci di strada verso la destinazione successiva abbiamo deciso di fare una piccola variazione di programma... ecco, questo per me è sinonimo di libertà, avere un itinerario di massima ma poter cambiare piani a proprio piacimento. Potreste fare ciò con una crociera organizzata e pagata profumatamente? (forse per questo non ne ho mai fatta una).
Questa volta ci aspettano tanti bei tornanti in discesa per lasciarci alle spalle Andorra ed entrare definitivamente in Spagna. Siamo diretti a Saragozza ma decidiamo di fare una deviazione verso Lerida per arrivare poi in serata alla destinazione finale (di cui parleremo nel prossimo post).
Vi presento Lerida
Lerida (Lleida in catalano) è una cittadina catalana a due passi dai pirenei e attraversata dal fiume Segre. Fu fondata dagli antichi romani ed ancora oggi offre una ricca combinazione di arte e cultura. Le attrazioni principali sono il suo castello e la cattedrale Vecchia. In Spagna Lerida è anche rinomata per la sua gastronomia (che non abbiamo avuto il piacere di provare).
Una volta entrati in città la nostra attenzione viene subito catturata dal Castello situato su una collina e decidiamo di sostare per mangiare qualcosa nel parco sottostante. Qui facciamo conoscienza con alcuni immigrati che come noi stavano consumando un almuerzo all'ombra di un albero. Dopo esserci rifocillati a dovere siamo pronti per la visita del Castello.
La sua posizione in altura era perfetta per avvistare qualunque ospite indesiderato si avvicinasse e ne faceva un vero e proprio forte.
Oggi che di nemici da avvistare non ce ne sono, la sua posizione panoramica permette una vista su tutta la città.
Sono le ore più calde del giorno, il sole picchia forte e conveniamo che tuttosommato siamo soddisfatti di ciò che abbiamo visto. Decidiamo dunque di metterci in macchina e ripartire per raggiungere Saragozza.

Stage 01
Bye Bye Andorra
When you sleep in a tent, alarms are often unnecessary because it will be the first rays of the morning sun that will signal you to wake up and face a new adventure. After dismantling everything and reorganizing the luggage (you know, like playing Tetris?), we are finally ready to leave the campsite and the state of Andorra: Today we will finally enter Spanish territory
Nostalgic moment: while we are still in Andorra, we stop at the first gas station to fill up with diesel, and to hell with Italian excise taxes... 0.54 €/liter, just over 20€ for a full tank. We will only remember this small country lost in the Pyrenees for this.
Lleida (Lerida), or the Freedom to Change
The stage I will describe today was not actually planned, but since we were on our way to the next destination, we decided to make a small change in plans... and for me, this is synonymous with freedom, having a rough itinerary but being able to change plans as you please. Could you do that with an organized and expensive cruise? (Maybe that's why I've never been on one).
This time, we have lots of beautiful downhill bends ahead of us to leave Andorra behind and enter Spain for good. We are heading to Zaragoza, but we decide to take a detour to Lerida and then reach our final destination in the evening (which we will talk about in the next post).
Introducing Lerida
Lerida (Lleida in Catalan) is a small Catalan town, just a stone's throw from the Pyrenees and crossed by the Segre River. It was founded by the ancient Romans and still offers a rich combination of art and culture today. The main attractions are its castle and the Old Cathedral. In Spain, Lerida is also renowned for its gastronomy (which we didn't have the pleasure of trying).
Once we enter the city, our attention is immediately captured by the Castle located on a hill, and we decide to stop and have something to eat in the park below. Here, we get to know some immigrants who, like us, were having lunch in the shade of a tree. After having replenished ourselves properly, we are ready to visit the Castle.
Its elevated position was perfect for spotting any unwanted guests approaching and made it a real fortress. Today, with no enemies to spot, its panoramic position allows for a view of the entire city.
It's the hottest time of the day, the sun is beating down, and we agree that we are satisfied with what we have seen. So, we decide to get back in the car and continue on to reach Zaragoza.
