How to Build Emotional Resilience and Bounce Back from Setbacks

With the few years that I have actually spent on this world, I have really come to discover that this life whether we like it or not, we will face ups and down. We will face period where everything is going smooth and we will face periods where everything is going rough. At first, I used to wonder why is it like that? Well many years later, I have actually discovered that is how the world is designed to be and there is actually nothing we can do about it if we should be sincere with ourselves.

But wait a minute, I said there is nothing we can do about it? Let me clarify it. I mean there is nothing we can actually do sometimes to prevent it but there is something we can do about it most especially when we are facing hard and down time in our life. Most of the time, those downtime can really be challenging and filled with a lot of emotional trauma and many more. But there is something that we can make use of which will make us to scale through those challenging period when it comes and which I will be discussing today. It is called emotional resilience.

If you want to journey through this world successfully, whether you like it or not, you need to learn how to have emotional resilience. Emotional resilience is the ability to actually handle those challenges and not to avoid them. It is a mindset which makes you to keep going in those difficult moments instead of giving up as many people will usually do. One of the things that I have come to discover is that people who are resilient, Whenever they are faced with a hard time in their life, they always see a setback as something which they can make use to bounce back and they see it as something temporary.

At one point in my life also, I was facing hard time to be resilient not until my eyes opened to see the importance and I begin to build my emotional resilience. There are some few steps that I have come to discover which you can use to build your emotional resilience. The first is when you have self awareness. What do I mean by that? When you are able to understand your emotions, know those emotional triggers, it helps to make sure you are able to manage them effectively. Then the second step is for you to have something called the growth mindset. Whether you like it or not, if you want to achieve great things in life, you must have growth mindset.

Growth mindset in the sense that when others are seeing those setbacks, hars times and failure as a way to draw them back, you are seeing it as a golden opportunity for you to grow. You see those challenges as an opportunity for growth instead of giving up. When you have that growth mindset, you will not be afraid to confront any challenges that might want to come your way. Then you need to make sure that you also have strong support networks. Let me quickly establish that there are some setbacks that you will not be able to achieve by yourself, you will definitely need people who will support you through to overcome them.

You will agree with me that one point of our life, we have faced setbacks. For some of us, we were actually able to bounce back and for many more, we find it hard to bounce back from those setbacks which leaves a scar in our life. Let me establish that resilience is needed for you to bounce back from setback. You will need to sit down and think, what can I do right again after encountering failure. Soon, you will discover that those failure are not to limit you, they are actually a blessing for you in disguise if you know how to use it effectively.
